SOMETHING TO SHAKE UP YOUR THINKING 02-26-19

Good morning everyone praise God for another day and another chance to grow in the gospel. Today’s message is an eye opener that will bless all those willing to receive.

Today’s Prayer

Dear Lord Jesus, the prayer today is short and sweet. Forgive us for hurrying through life, often too busy to take time to “know” You, to really listen to the Holy Spirit’s leading. Help us to get our priorities straight, then everything else will fall into place, won’t it? In Your holy name we pray. Amen.

Let’s eat.

Father, Son and the Holy Scripture

John 14:1-14

“Don’t let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God, and trust also in me. There is more than enough room in my Father’s home. If this were not so, would I have told you that I am going to prepare a place for you? When everything is ready, I will come and get you, so that you will always be with me where I am. And you know the way to where I am going.” “No, we don’t know, Lord,” Thomas said. “We have no idea where you are going, so how can we know the way?” Jesus told him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me. If you had really known me, you would know who my Father is. From now on, you do know him and have seen him!” Philip said, “Lord, show us the Father, and we will be satisfied.” Jesus replied, “Have I been with you all this time, Philip, and yet you still don’t know who I am? Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father! So why are you asking me to show him to you? Don’t you believe that I am in the Father and the Father is in me? The words I speak are not my own, but my Father who lives in me does his work through me. Just believe that I am in the Father and the Father is in me. Or at least believe because of the work you have seen me do. “I tell you the truth, anyone who believes in me will do the same works I have done, and even greater works, because I am going to be with the Father. You can ask for anything in my name, and I will do it, so that the Son can bring glory to the Father. Yes, ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it!

So many in the body of Christ make the mistake of thinking because they can quote scripture and do good works, they have this whole relationship thing in hand. You could not be farther from the truth. Unless you have a personal relationship with the Lord via a strong prayer life and spending quality time with Him, just like the 12, you don’t really know Him.

Quote of the Day

Life is war. That’s not all it is. But it is always that. Our weakness in prayer is owing largely to our neglect of this truth. Prayer is primarily a wartime walkie-talkie for the mission of the church as it advances against the powers of darkness and unbelief. It is not surprising that prayer malfunctions when we try to make it a domestic intercom to call upstairs for more comforts in the den. God has given us prayer as a wartime walkie-talkie so that we can call headquarters for everything we need as the kingdom of Christ advances in the world. Prayer gives us the significance of front-line forces, and gives God the glory of a limitless Provider. The one who gives the power gets the glory. Thus prayer safeguards the supremacy of God in missions while linking us with endless grace for every need.
