SPIRITUAL QUESTIONS 02-23-23

_ 030914 GIL

Praise the Lord for mercy and grace. I just recently had a new believer ask me about following the Ten Commandments. I had to remind him what Jesus did for us on the cross and the one great commandment He left with us. That conversation brought about deep spiritual questions for all of us.

Today’s Prayer

(Make this your prayer if it fits you)

Father, Thank You for being a long-suffering, forgiving God. You are so merciful. I pray for understanding and humbleness, that I will never “cast stones” at others who have certain problems, past sins, different opinions or are struggling with overcoming sins and issues. Remind me to pray for them to help them in any way possible. Help me to see my own shortcomings and work on myself, rather than condemn others. Help me to see sin as sin, but to also see people as imperfect beings who need encouragement and who need Your mercy–just like I do. Please forgive me of ever looking down on anyone for their situations or conditions. May I see others through the eyes of Jesus. In His name I pray, Amen.

Let’s eat.

Who Are You Mentoring

Teach the older men to exercise self-control, to be worthy of respect, and to live wisely. They must have sound faith and be filled with love and patience. Similarly, teach the older women to live in a way that honors God. They must not slander others or be heavy drinkers. Instead, they should teach others what is good.

God’s way is for a woman/man to leave a legacy. Today’s passage says older women/men have a ministry from God to teach the younger women/men. It says here very clearly that the aged women/men are to teach the younger women/men. That is God’s plan.

Through the years, we have had a very wonderful number of programs in our ministry; man to man, woman to woman, adult to child and peer to peer to name a few. The older women/men minister to and disciple the younger women/men because many don’t have mentors to disciple them. God’s Word says older women/men are to teach these young women/men. If we miss God’s call on our lives, we’re failing God and missing a blessing. Don’t neglect to pass on the legacy of faith.

  • Who have you passed your faith on to? How have you been a mentor to someone?
  • Who has mentored you? How did that make a difference in your life?

Pray for the people you mentor, or ask God who you could mentor (or who might mentor you) in this season.
