A LESSON FROM NOAH 03-04-22

Praise the Lord for everything that has breath or takes a breath. I know this is going to seem a little strange to you but as I was sitting here getting ready for the message, Noah and judgment popped into my head. So I did a contrast between old and new testament which blessed the heck out of me. I hope it helps someone else.

Today’s Prayer

Father, You have said, Blessed are the poor in spirit,” those who realize that they need the Holy Spirit to quicken both Your Word and Your truth for them. Help us to realize that we need You each day of our lives; we need Your guidance, we need Your wisdom, we need to know that Your love is constant and that Your grace is sufficient to sustain us. As we prepare for uncertain times ahead, help us to yield to Your sovereignty, to trust Your faithfulness, and to desire to serve You as we seek Your will for our lives. In the wonderful name of Jesus we pray and give thanks, Amen.

Let’s eat.

Noah’s Times and Testimony

Judgment Pronounced

Genesis 6:13 –

So God said to Noah, “I am going to put an end to all people, for the earth is filled with violence because of them. I am surely going to destroy both them and the earth.

With Hebrews 11:7 –

By faith Noah, when warned about things not yet seen, in holy fear built an ark to save his family. By his faith he condemned the world and became heir of the righteousness that comes by faith.

Righteousness Preached

Genesis 6:22 –

Noah did everything just as God commanded him.

With 2 Peter 2:5-10 –

And God did not spare the ancient world—except for Noah and the seven others in his family. Noah warned the world of God’s righteous judgment. So God protected Noah when he destroyed the world of ungodly people with a vast flood. Later, God condemned the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah and turned them into heaps of ashes. He made them an example of what will happen to ungodly people. But God also rescued Lot out of Sodom because he was a righteous man who was sick of the shameful immorality of the wicked people around him. Yes, Lot was a righteous man who was tormented in his soul by the wickedness he saw and heard day after day. So you see, the Lord knows how to rescue godly people from their trials, even while keeping the wicked under punishment until the day of final judgment. He is especially hard on those who follow their own twisted sexual desire, and who despise authority. These people are proud and arrogant, daring even to scoff at supernatural beings without so much as trembling.

Longsuffering Prevailed

Genesis 6:3 –

Then the Lord said, “My Spirit will not put up with humans for such a long time, for they are only mortal flesh. In the future, their normal lifespan will be no more than 120 years.”

With 1 Peter 3:20 –

Those who disobeyed God long ago when God waited patiently while Noah was building his boat. Only eight people were saved from drowning in that terrible flood.

Salvation Prepared

Genesis 6:14 –

“Build a large boat from cypress wood and waterproof it with tar, inside and out. Then construct decks and stalls throughout its interior.

With 1 Peter 3:20 –

Those who disobeyed God long ago when God waited patiently while Noah was building his boat. Only eight people were saved from drowning in that terrible flood.

The Spirit Persuading

Genesis 6:3 –

Then the Lord said, “My Spirit will not put up with humans for such a long time, for they are only mortal flesh. In the future, their normal lifespan will be no more than 120 years.”

With 1 Peter 3:19 –

So he went and preached to the spirits in prison—

Sinners Perished

Genesis 7:21 –

All the living things on earth died—birds, domestic animals, wild animals, small animals that scurry along the ground, and all the people.

With 2 Peter 3:6 –

Then he used the water to destroy the ancient world with a mighty flood.

Quote of the Day

We may have as much of God as we will. Christ puts the key of the treasure-chamber into our hand, and bids us take all that we want. If a man is admitted into the bullion vault of a bank, and told to help himself, and comes out with one cent, whose fault is it that he is poor? Whose fault is it that Christian people generally have such scanty portions of the free riches of God? ~McLaren~
