A LESSON ON CHOICE 04-22-15

_ 042214 Choices

What a friend we have in Jesus. He gave us all new life. We died to our old sinful life upon accepting Him as our Lord and savior. I have a question for someone reading this message; did you really die to the old life or are you on life support? It’s a choice you make. That’s the word of the day, “CHOICE.

Today’s Prayer

Father, as I study Your Word and ask You to make Your truth and Your guidance concerning our nation’s problems known to me, am I hearing You correctly?

“Since when did I ever say that to sin should be a civil right? How can my people call themselves Christians and advocate what I have called ‘sin’?”

But Lord, times have changed —

“I have not changed!”

Oh Lord, do You mean —

“Think it over carefully, for you cannot serve two masters,* the world and Me. You have to choose.”

Oh Lord, I am often confused and easily influenced by the beliefs of others. Forgive me, for I want to choose You — but, all the way?

“All the way!”

All right, Your way, Lord. But I won’t be very popular and I’ll lose some friends.

“You will have Me — forever. My grace will sustain you. Trust Me.”

Thank You, Lord, In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.

Let’s eat.

Choice

Proverbs 22:1-16 –

Choose a good reputation over great riches; being held in high esteem is better than silver or gold. The rich and poor have this in common: The Lord made them both. A prudent person foresees danger and takes precautions. The simpleton goes blindly on and suffers the consequences. True humility and fear of the Lord lead to riches, honor, and long life. Corrupt people walk a thorny, treacherous road; whoever values life will avoid it. Direct your children onto the right path, and when they are older, they will not leave it. Just as the rich rule the poor, so the borrower is servant to the lender. Those who plant injustice will harvest disaster, and their reign of terror will come to an end. Blessed are those who are generous, because they feed the poor. Throw out the mocker, and fighting goes, too. Quarrels and insults will disappear. Whoever loves a pure heart and gracious speech will have the king as a friend. The Lord preserves those with knowledge, but he ruins the plans of the treacherous. The lazy person claims, “There’s a lion out there! If I go outside, I might be killed!” The mouth of an immoral woman is a dangerous trap; those who make the Lord angry will fall into it. A youngster’s heart is filled with foolishness, but physical discipline will drive it far away. A person who gets ahead by oppressing the poor or by showering gifts on the rich will end in poverty.

Quote of the Day

The God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, the God of Jacob, the God of Christians is a God of love and comfort, a God who fills the soul and heart of those whom he possesses, a God who makes them conscious of their inward wretchedness, and his infinite mercy; who unites himself to their inmost soul, who fills it with humility and joy, with confidence and love, who renders them incapable of any other end than himself.
