A Lesson On Obedience 01-14-20

Good day everyone. This is the day the Lord has made, I will rejoice and be glad in it. I was sitting and taking inventory of how far the Lord has brought me in my walk of obedience over the last couple decades and how much farther I need to go. I love how patient God is with us when we are truly striving to be what He wants us to be. I went back into my archives and found a message on obedience that I sent out in early 2005. My hope is that it will be a blessing to all of us today.

Today’s Prayer

Father, Today I’m thinking of marriages. You started out putting one man and one woman together to help each other through life and to begin a family to love and nurture and replenish the earth. This is the traditional family as You intended. I pray for those who seek to redefine marriage as any other union, that You will open their eyes and show them the truth. I pray that the Truth will set them free. I pray for couples who are married, that You will anoint their marriages and help them to have good communication and to think of each other’s needs first and to always lift each other up. The world is there to knock us down. Above anyone else, spouses should lift one another up. I pray that my relationships with family and friends will be healthy and will honor You. Thank You, Father, for loving me and accepting me into Your family through the atoning blood of Jesus. It’s in His wonderful name I pray, Amen.

Let’s eat.

Obedience

Ever since I went to Pharaoh to speak in Your name, he has brought trouble upon this people, and You have not rescued Your people at all. – Exodus 5:23

When ever I’m looking for encouragement in an area, the bible lays it out right in front of me. Have you ever felt that the more obedient you are to following God, the more adversity there is? The bible tells us that Moses had been instructed to go to Pharaoh and tell him to release the people of Israel. God had said He was going to deliver the people through Moses. The only problem is that God didn’t tell Moses at what point they actually would be released. When Moses complained to God, the Lord told Moses that He had to harden Pharaoh’s heart in order to perform greater miracles. God was behind hardening Pharaoh’s heart. We forget that the king’s heart is in God’s hand. God had a specific reason for each plague and each delay. God said to Moses,

“I have hardened his heart and the hearts of his officials so that I may perform these miraculous signs of Mine among them that you may tell your children and grandchildren how I dealt harshly with the Egyptians and how I performed My signs among them, and that you may know that I am the Lord” (Exodus 10:1-2).

God has a reason for everything He does. These delays were designed to bring greater glory to Himself and were to be a lasting legacy of His miracle-working power for generations to come.

When the people were freed, God again hardened Pharaoh’s heart to go after them. This action of God to harden Pharaoh’s heart was to set the stage for an even greater miracle — the parting of the Red Sea. The people were angry with Moses for bringing them to the desert “to die.” But God said to Moses, “Why are you crying out to Me? Tell the Israelites to move on” (Exodus 14:15). There was only one place to go by this time — the Red Sea. God parted the Red Sea, and another greater miracle took place.

Moses learned several lessons that each of us must learn. God’s promises are true, but His timing is not the same as ours. God always wants greater glory than what we might be willing to give Him. God puts obstacles and adversity into our lives in order to build perseverance and faith. Why has God put the mountains in your life at this time?

To demonstrate His power through your life.

To show His glory.

Quote of the Day

It is possible to be so active in the service of Christ as to forget to love him.

Very good. I am trying to hurry and move on with my life and it isn’t the right thing. I need to slow down. It is God’s plan. Not mine. I understand now. Precious Lord take my hand… I get it. Thank you and God bless.
