Good day everyone and praise the Lord for another wonderful day. As I sat here the word ransom popped into my head. I went to the dictionary to get a point of reference:

ran·som  (rnsm)
n.
1.
a. The release of property or a person in return for payment of a demanded price.
b. The price or payment demanded or paid for such release.

2. A redemption from sin and its consequences.
tr.v. ran·somed, ran·som·ing, ran·soms

1.
a. To obtain the release of by paying a certain price.
b. To release after receiving such a payment.

To deliver from sin and its consequences.

That leads us to the scripture for today; let it bless you.

Today’s Prayer

Our most gracious heavenly Father, You are our refuge, fortress, our God in whom we trust! You deliver us from the snare of the trapper and from deadly pestilence. You have promised that Your faithfulness will be our shield and You are indeed trustworthy. Remind us that we do not have to be afraid. For even though trying times come, You will see us through them. You have said that if we do indeed make You our God, even the Most High our dwelling place, that no real evil can defeat us! You have said that if we truly love You, that we may call upon Your name, and that You will answer! Oh Lord, in this New Year, help us to give You honor and praise daily, and to be the means by which others may come to know You. And help us to be as faithful to You in our commitments as Your have promised to be to us. It’s in the wonderful name of Jesus we present this and all things, Amen and Amen.

By God; A Ransom Given

1 Timothy 2:5-6 –

For there is only one God and one Mediator who can reconcile God and humanity—the man Christ Jesus. He gave his life to purchase freedom for everyone. This is the message God gave to the world at just the right time.

By Christ, A Ransom Refused

Job 36:18-21 –

But watch out, or you may be seduced by wealth. Don’t let yourself be bribed into sin. Could all your wealth or all your mighty efforts keep you from distress? Do not long for the cover of night, for that is when people will be destroyed. Be on guard! Turn back from evil, for God sent this suffering to keep you from a life of evil.
