Oh give thanks unto the Lord for He is good yes He is good and He is worthy of our praise. Today we are going to feast on a message about proper focus so pick up your utensils and get ready. If you have followed me over the years you have probably seen this before because I have shared it from time to time.

TODAY’S PRAYER

Father, on behalf of my brothers and sisters in Christ everywhere, we thank you for this beautiful day even if it started with bad weather, You always shine. Thank you for the seasons that change and the awesome wonder of nature that you gave us to enjoy and to oversee. Thank you for cool fall breezes at the end of a hot, dry summer. Thank you for the colorful autumn leaves that flutter down and the rusty, warm shades of flowers. Thank you for harvest time, orange pumpkins and crisp apples. Thank you for family together times and friends and festivals and all your abundant blessings. Thank you for keeping us safe, for watching over our loved ones, and for meeting our needs. I pray for the needy, that you will touch them and bring joy and provision into their lives. Thank you, God, for hearing me for accepting my praise, and for answering my heart’s prayers. In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.

Let’s eat.

AN AUDIENCE OF ONE

Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect. Romans 12:2

Here is a question that struck me deeply; “What audience do you play to?” Each day we are seen by many who will make a judgment about the way you handle yourself among different audiences. Politicians have learned to play to their audiences, customizing messages for the needs of their particular groups. Musicians have learned to play to their audiences. Pastors play to their congregations each Sunday morning. Sales people play to the audiences who will buy their product.

The Lord has called us to play to one audience – the audience of Himself. When we set out to please any other audience in our lives, we become susceptible to situational ethics and motivations based on the need for the moment. Our audience becomes a pawn in our hands because we know what they want. Is that wrong? Sometimes it is, sometimes it isn’t.

Pure obedience to pleasing God in our lives will often meet the needs of those around us. It’s God’s will that you and I love our spouses, provide good services to our customers, and look to the interests of others before ourselves. This will result in meeting many needs of the audiences in our lives.

However, there are other times when our audiences are asking for something contrary to God’s will. Politicians are often forced to appease their audiences, even though it may go against God’s laws. When we are asked to go with the flow, we discover which audience is most important in our lives. Is it the audience of One, or the audience of many?

Today, be aware of which audience you are playing to. Ask yourself why you are taking a particular action. Is it to please the audience of one? Or is it to please the audience of others who might negatively impact you should you not play to their tune?

QUOTE OF THE DAY

The three greatest needs of every man: to be dead in Christ, to be dead to sin, and to be dead to what other people think. ~Anonymous~
