Children of God: Their Position-part 1 07-08-18

Good morning everyone. This is the day the Lord has made. We will rejoice and be glad in it. Today starts a two part message for the children of God so open your minds and hearts to receive.

Today’s Prayer

Our most gracious heavenly Father, as we acknowledge Your sovereignty today, help us to remember that as Christians we have committed ourselves to living by Your rules, and not by our generational whims or desires. You created us, male and female to procreate, nurture and enjoy our families, that we might continue to be Your people. Through Your Son’s sacrifice, You loved us, You taught us, and You saved us. Jesus taught that we were to seek and follow Your will, that we were to show sensitivity to sinners, but that we were not to condone their sins! Forgive us, Lord, as a nation, as a denomination, as a church, and as individuals for too often condoning what You have called sin. Give us courage as we try to remain faithful to Your Word. In Jesus’ wonderful name we pray, Amen.

Let’s eat.

Children of God: Their Position(part 1)

A Title of Relationship and Endearment

Begotten of God

John 1:11-12

Even in his own land and among his own people, the Jews, he was not accepted. Only a few would welcome and receive him. But to all who received him, he gave the right to become children of God. All they needed to do was to trust him to save them.

1 John 5:1-2

If you believe that Jesus is the Christ–that he is God’s Son and your Savior–then you are a child of God. And all who love the Father love his children too. So you can find out how much you love God’s children–your brothers and sisters in the Lord–by how much you love and obey God.

In a New Relationship

Romans 8:15

And so we should not be like cringing, fearful slaves, but we should behave like God’s very own children, adopted into the bosom of his family, and calling to him, “Father, Father.”

John 8:35

And slaves don’t have rights, but the Son has every right there is!

Linked with Christ

John 20:17

“Don’t touch me,” he cautioned, “for I haven’t yet ascended to the Father. But go find my brothers and tell them that I ascend to my Father and your Father, my God and your God.”

Hebrews 2:11

We who have been made holy by Jesus, now have the same Father he has. That is why Jesus is not ashamed to call us his brothers.

Quote of the Day

Little things are indeed little, but to be faithful in little things is a great thing.
