FAITH THAT WORKS 02-17-21

Hello and praise the Lord for another day and another chance to spread the good news. The question now becomes, will you do your job today or will you take the day off? Did you ever think about what would happen if God took a day off? I’m just trying to get the spiritual thoughts moving.

TODAY’S PRAYER

Dear Lord Jesus, You have said, “Blessed are the poor in spirit, …” meaning those who realize that they can’t do it alone. Help us realize that we need You in our lives each day; we need Your wisdom, and we need to know that Your love is constant and that Your grace is sufficient to sustain us. As we prepare for uncertain times ahead, help us yield to Your sovereignty, to trust Your faithfulness, and to desire to serve You as we seek Your will for our lives. In Your holy name we pray. Amen.

Let’s eat.

FAITH OF THE GENTLE WOMAN

Mark 7:24-30

Then Jesus left Galilee and went north to the region of Tyre. He didn’t want anyone to know which house he was staying in, but he couldn’t keep it a secret. Right away a woman who had heard about him came and fell at his feet. Her little girl was possessed by an evil spirit, and she begged him to cast out the demon from her daughter. Since she was a Gentile, born in Syrian Phoenicia, Jesus told her, “First I should feed the children—my own family, the Jews. It isn’t right to take food from the children and throw it to the dogs.” She replied, “That’s true, Lord, but even the dogs under the table are allowed to eat the scraps from the children’s plates.” “Good answer!” he said. “Now go home, for the demon has left your daughter.” And when she arrived home, she found her little girl lying quietly in bed, and the demon was gone.

The woman in these verses had the kind of faith that caused Jesus to move. Do you possess that kind of faith in your life?

QUOTE OF THE DAY

A wise lover values not so much the gift of the lover as the love of the giver.
