1 103013 God Alone

Good day everyone and praise the Lord for another day and another chance to stay on the right path. The title of the message today says it all, Let it bless you.

Today’s Prayer

Dear Lord Jesus, as Christians everywhere look forward to celebrating Your birthday, remind us to take time in the midst of all the hurried preparations to see Your Presence in a hundred different ways – the song of a choir; the brilliant hues of a sunrise or sunset; the encouragement of a friend; the hug of a mate, a parent or a child; the finding of something misplaced; an answer to prayer or a miracle healing. Oh Lord, Your Presence is everywhere – open our eyes that we may see, and give You thanks! You want our lives to be an adventure in faith; and Your faithfulness and love give us courage and purpose. Let us not miss all that You have for us.  In Your holy name we pray. Amen.

Let’s eat.

Only One

One God

Mark 12:28-29

One of the teachers of religious law was standing there listening to the debate. He realized that Jesus had answered well, so he asked, “Of all the commandments, which is the most important?” Jesus replied, “The most important commandment is this: ‘Listen, O Israel! The Lord our God is the one and only Lord.

No Idolatry One Mediator

1 Timothy 2:5

I urge you, first of all, to pray for all people. Ask God to help them; intercede on their behalf, and give thanks for them. Pray this way for kings and all who are in authority so that we can live peaceful and quiet lives marked by godliness and dignity. This is good and pleases God our Savior, who wants everyone to be saved and to understand the truth. For there is only one God and one Mediator who can reconcile God and humanity—the man Christ Jesus.

No Priest craft; One Savior

Isaiah 45:21

Consult together, argue your case. Get together and decide what to say. Who made these things known so long ago? What idol ever told you they would happen? Was it not I, the Lord? For there is no other God but me, a righteous God and Savior. There is none but me.

No Mixtures; One Offering

Hebrews 10:12-14

But our High Priest offered himself to God as a single sacrifice for sins, good for all time. Then he sat down in the place of honor at God’s right hand. There he waits until his enemies are humbled and made a footstool under his feet. For by that one offering he forever made perfect those who are being made holy.

No Sacraments; One Lord

1 Corinthians 8:4

So, what about eating meat that has been offered to idols? Well, we all know that an idol is not really a god and that there is only one God.

Ephesians 4:4-6

For there is one body and one Spirit, just as you have been called to one glorious hope for the future. There is one Lord, one faith, one baptism, and one God and Father, who is over all and in all and living through all.

Quote of the Day

The Lord Jesus loves us with all His heart. He desires that we love Him with all our heart; and until we do, we will never know the sweetness of His love for us. We will have some faint concept but that is all. With how many people do we share the secrets of our heart and with whom do we share them? We will be intimate with the person we know loves us, the person we know is committed to us, the person who has given himself or herself to us, and with none besides. It is so with our Lord. There must be response of love to love.
