1 070513 Wisdom

Good day to ya everyone. The God that we serve is awesome in the way that He deals with each of us in a totally different way to get us to the same place. That is something I want you to wrap your thoughts around today. The word of the day is “wisdom”.

Today’s Prayer

Dear Heavenly Father, in the bible You did not say how long the prodigal son was away. … It could have been one, five or ten years, or more. … It is hard to be a parent, only to be able to stand by when a loved child takes a wrong path; yet it must be his or her “turning about,” and all that any parent can do is to pray and to trust You to do the drawing. … How much more then we begin to understand some of Your heartache, Lord. Even though You first chose us and loved us, You too are helpless unless we choose You, for love must be freely given. Oh Lord, open our hearts to understand this. In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.

Let’s eat.

True Wisdom Comes from God

James 3:11-18

If you are wise and understand God’s ways, prove it by living an honorable life, doing good works with the humility that comes from wisdom. But if you are bitterly jealous and there is selfish ambition in your heart, don’t cover up the truth with boasting and lying. For jealousy and selfishness are not God’s kind of wisdom. Such things are earthly, unspiritual, and demonic. For wherever there is jealousy and selfish ambition, there you will find disorder and evil of every kind. But the wisdom from above is first of all pure. It is also peace loving, gentle at all times, and willing to yield to others. It is full of mercy and good deeds. It shows no favoritism and is always sincere. And those who are peacemakers will plant seeds of peace and reap a harvest of righteousness.

Quote of the Day

The real test of a saint is not one’s willingness to preach the gospel, but one’s willingness to do something like washing the disciples’ feet – that is, being willing to do those things that seem unimportant in human estimation but count as everything to God.
