_ 082914 Who We Are

Good day everyone and praise the Lord for another wonderful chance to move forward with the gospel. Why don’t you go out today and tell somebody about your best friend and savior.

Today’s Prayer

Father, I come before you this morning on behalf of all of my brothers and sisters everywhere to proclaim that just for today, we will serve You by putting Your will ahead of our desires. Just for today, we will think before we speak or act, asking ourselves, “How would Jesus respond?” Just for today, we will live out our faith with the help and strength of the Holy Spirit — one day at a time. Help us, for we often forget. In the name of Jesus I pray and give thanks, Amen and Amen.

Let’s eat.

Our Names

Sinners

Romans 5:18-19

Yes, Adam’s one sin brings condemnation for everyone, but Christ’s one act of righteousness brings a right relationship with God and new life for everyone. Because one person disobeyed God, many became sinners. But because one other person obeyed God, many will be made righteous.

1 Timothy 1:15-17

This is a trustworthy saying, and everyone should accept it: “Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners”—and I am the worst of them all. But God had mercy on me so that Christ Jesus could use me as a prime example of his great patience with even the worst sinners. Then others will realize that they, too, can believe in him and receive eternal life. All honor and glory to God forever and ever! He is the eternal King, the unseen one who never dies; he alone is God. Amen.

By Nature and Practice, Saints

Romans 1:7

I am writing to all of you in Rome who are loved by God and are called to be his own holy people. May God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ give you grace and peace.

Ephesians 5:1-3

Imitate God, therefore, in everything you do, because you are his dear children. Live a life filled with love, following the example of Christ. He loved us and offered himself as a sacrifice for us, a pleasing aroma to God. Let there be no sexual immorality, impurity, or greed among you. Such sins have no place among God’s people.

By Call and Conduct, Sons

1 John 3:1

See how very much our Father loves us, for he calls us his children, and that is what we are! But the people who belong to this world don’t recognize that we are God’s children because they don’t know him.

Philippians 2:14-15

Do everything without complaining and arguing, so that no one can criticize you. Live clean, innocent lives as children of God, shining like bright lights in a world full of crooked and perverse people.

By Birth and Testimony, Servants

Acts 27:22-25

But take courage! None of you will lose your lives, even though the ship will go down. For last night an angel of the God to whom I belong and whom I serve stood beside me, and he said, ‘Don’t be afraid, Paul, for you will surely stand trial before Caesar! What’s more, God in his goodness has granted safety to everyone sailing with you.’ So take courage! For I believe God. It will be just as he said.

John 12:26

Anyone who wants to be my disciple must follow me, because my servants must be where I am. And the Father will honor anyone who serves me.

Quote of the Day

Oh, for the baptism of fire! Oh, for the living coal upon the burning lips of love! 0h, for men and women God-possessed and self-surrendered, grasping God’s great idea and pressing forward toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus (Philippians 3:14).
