Glenn’s Meal 09-19-13

1 091913 LOVE

Good morning everyone. Today’s meal is one that we all need. It’s a reminder of what to do when you have individuals in your life that you know don’t like you and mean you some type of harm. It’s straight from the word.

TODAY’S PRAYER

Father, today is Your gift to us! Let us not fret about the past, re-living our mistakes and hurts, rather help us to learn from them. Remind us not to live for some tomorrow that may or may not come, for fear that we miss the NOW. Let us treasure every precious experience, large or small, good or bad, for we can enjoy it, or learn from it. Let us try to live each day to Your glory, for only then can we be sure that our lives are indeed worth while, and precious to You. Thank You, Lord, for this moment — that we are here, and that You are with us! This is our joy! At other times this is our comfort, our faith, and our peace! In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

Let’s eat.

Teaching about Love for Enemies

Matthew 5:43-48

“You have heard the law that says, ‘Love your neighbor’[a] and hate your enemy. But I say, love your enemies! Pray for those who persecute you! In that way, you will be acting as true children of your Father in heaven. For he gives his sunlight to both the evil and the good, and he sends rain on the just and the unjust alike. If you love only those who love you, what reward is there for that? Even corrupt tax collectors do that much. If you are kind only to your friends, how are you different from anyone else? Even pagans do that. But you are to be perfect, even as your Father in heaven is perfect.

QUOTE OF THE DAY

Sin arises when things that are a minor good are pursued as though they were the most important goals in life. If money or affection or powers are sought in disproportionate, obsessive ways, then sin occurs. And that sin is magnified when, for these lesser goals, we fail to pursue the highest good and the finest goals. So when we ask ourselves why, in a given situation, we committed a sin, the answer is usually one of two things. Either we wanted to obtain something we didn’t have, or we feared losing something we had.
