Glenn’s Meal 11-11-13

1 111113 THANKS

Good morning everyone. First and foremost I want to say Thank You to all the Veterans of all the armed services of the USA. You have gone above and beyond the call of duty to preserve the freedoms most Americans take for granted. I especially want to thank my two brothers Jeff Caradine and Ronald Carson for making me a proud big brother. As I sit here this morning, I’m getting an urge in my spirit to talk to you, my spiritual family, about who we are and who we belong to. If you are going around bragging about your church or choir, which a lot of people do, I have some clarification for you straight from the word, so put on your bib and get your utensils ready.

TODAY’S PRAYER

Father, what a mighty and awesome creation you have made. I first ask that you shower a double dose of you blessings on veterans today. As I sit here and hear the wind blow, I am reminded of your power. Like the wind gently ushers refreshing breezes, so you refresh our spirit. Like stormy winds blow hard, clearing the air and drying the puddles after the rain, so rushes in your comfort, drying our tears and clearing my mind. Like the strong winds of a hurricane command our attention, so your Spirit convicts our hearts when we are thinking or doing the wrong thing. Like a brisk wind invigorates our senses, so your Holy Spirit revives and inspires our souls. Thank you, God, for all you have given, all you do, and for your great love for us. You truly are awesome and we look up to you, our Heavenly Father and Creator, from whom comes our help. In Jesus’ name we offer our praise to you, Amen.

Let’s eat.

WE ARE GOD’S AMBASSADORS

2 Corinthians 5: 11-21

Because we understand our fearful responsibility to the Lord, we work hard to persuade others. God knows we are sincere, and I hope you know this, too. Are we commending ourselves to you again? No, we are giving you a reason to be proud of us, so you can answer those who brag about having a spectacular ministry rather than having a sincere heart. If it seems we are crazy, it is to bring glory to God. And if we are in our right minds, it is for your benefit. Either way, Christ’s love controls us. Since we believe that Christ died for all, we also believe that we have all died to our old life. He died for everyone so that those who receive his new life will no longer live for themselves. Instead, they will live for Christ, who died and was raised for them. So we have stopped evaluating others from a human point of view. At one time we thought of Christ merely from a human point of view. How differently we know him now! This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun! And all of this is a gift from God, who brought us back to himself through Christ. And God has given us this task of reconciling people to him. For God was in Christ, reconciling the world to himself, no longer counting people’s sins against them. And he gave us this wonderful message of reconciliation. So we are Christ’s ambassadors; God is making his appeal through us. We speak for Christ when we plead, “Come back to God!” For God made Christ, who never sinned, to be the offering for our sin, so that we could be made right with God through Christ.

QUOTE OF THE DAY

“It is a fact that the Lord Jesus has already died for you. It is also a fact that you have already died with the Lord Jesus…If you do not believe in your death with Christ, you will not be able to receive the effectiveness of death with Him – freedom from sin.”
