Glenn’s Meal 11-21-14

CONCERN

Rejoice in the Lord always and again I say rejoice. I was listening to a sermon a couple weeks ago in which the speaker was talking about people being judgmental and who should judge who. As I sat here this morning going over the comments I heard on how the sermon was perceived by others, the words “hour of the Lord” dropped into my spirit which prompted me to go to the book of John for the message of the day. Take it to heart.

Today’s Prayer

Father, I come to you this morning standing in the gap for people everywhere to ask that You would soften our hearts to not be self-righteous or judgmental and help us to make important the things You consider important in our lives; the attitudes of our hearts. Let us seek to exhibit the fruit of the Holy Spirit, which can only be developed when we stay attached to You, the “vine,”* for without You we can do nothing. I present this and all things to you in the wonderful name of Jesus, Amen and Amen.

Let’s eat.

Two Hours

John 5:20-29

For the Father loves the Son and shows him everything he is doing. In fact, the Father will show him how to do even greater works than healing this man. Then you will truly be astonished. For just as the Father gives life to those he raises from the dead, so the Son gives life to anyone he wants. In addition, the Father judges no one. Instead, he has given the Son absolute authority to judge, so that everyone will honor the Son, just as they honor the Father. Anyone who does not honor the Son is certainly not honoring the Father who sent him. “I tell you the truth, those who listen to my message and believe in God who sent me have eternal life. They will never be condemned for their sins, but they have already passed from death into life. “And I assure you that the time is coming, indeed it’s here now, when the dead will hear my voice—the voice of the Son of God. And those who listen will live. The Father has life in himself, and he has granted that same life-giving power to his Son. And he has given him authority to judge everyone because he is the Son of Man. Don’t be so surprised! Indeed, the time is coming when all the dead in their graves will hear the voice of God’s Son, and they will rise again. Those who have done good will rise to experience eternal life, and those who have continued in evil will rise to experience judgment.

The Hour of Life-giving

(verse 25)

“And I assure you that the time is coming, indeed it’s here now, when the dead will hear my voice—the voice of the Son of God. And those who listen will live.

The Hour of Judgment

(Verses. 28-29)

Don’t be so surprised! Indeed, the time is coming when all the dead in their graves will hear the voice of God’s Son, and they will rise again. Those who have done good will rise to experience eternal life, and those who have continued in evil will rise to experience judgment.

Future

All of us must meet the Lord in either of these periods. Which hour is the one for you?

Quote of the Day

Never make a permanent decision based on a temporary storm. No matter how raging the billows are today, remind yourself. “This too shall pass”
