_ 112314 Spiritual Cleansing

Oh give thanks unto the Lord for He is good yes He is good and worthy of our praise. I had a dream in which everyone in the dream kept scrubbing themselves but couldn’t get this dirty film that we all had on us from tearing down a old building that was in front of us. I had to really press in to try and figure out what this was all about. I came to the conclusion that it was the Holy Spirit’s way of telling me that we can’t get clean by scrubbing alone. Let the word of God bless you this morning.

Today’s Prayer

Dear Heavenly Father, as we get caught up in the materialism of our fast-paced world today, let us pause to consider some special words of an unknown writer —
Money will buy a bed, but not sleep.
Money will buy books, but not brains.
Money will buy food, but not an appetite.
Money will buy finery, but not beauty.
Money will buy a house, but not a home.
Money will buy medicine, but not health.
Money will buy luxuries, but not happiness.
Money will buy religion, but not salvation.
Money will buy a passport to anywhere but heaven.
Help us to see that our lives are meaningless without You.
In Jesus’ name we pray.

Let’s eat.

Twofold Cleansing

Cleansing by Blood

1 John 1:5-10

This is the message we heard from Jesus and now declare to you: God is light, and there is no darkness in him at all. So we are lying if we say we have fellowship with God but go on living in spiritual darkness; we are not practicing the truth. But if we are living in the light, as God is in the light, then we have fellowship with each other, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, cleanses us from all sin. If we claim we have no sin, we are only fooling ourselves and not living in the truth. But if we confess our sins to him, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all wickedness. If we claim we have not sinned, we are calling God a liar and showing that his word has no place in our hearts.

Before God; Cleansing by Water

Ephesians 5:15-30

So be careful how you live. Don’t live like fools, but like those who are wise. Make the most of every opportunity in these evil days. Don’t act thoughtlessly, but understand what the Lord wants you to do. Don’t be drunk with wine, because that will ruin your life. Instead, be filled with the Holy Spirit, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs among yourselves, and making music to the Lord in your hearts. And give thanks for everything to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. And further, submit to one another out of reverence for Christ. For wives, this means submit to your husbands as to the Lord. For a husband is the head of his wife as Christ is the head of the church. He is the Savior of his body, the church. As the church submits to Christ, so you wives should submit to your husbands in everything. For husbands, this means love your wives, just as Christ loved the church. He gave up his life for her to make her holy and clean, washed by the cleansing of God’s word. He did this to present her to himself as a glorious church without a spot or wrinkle or any other blemish. Instead, she will be holy and without fault. In the same way, husbands ought to love their wives as they love their own bodies. For a man who loves his wife actually shows love for himself. No one hates his own body but feeds and cares for it, just as Christ cares for the church. And we are members of his body.

Quote of the Day

No man is uneducated who knows the Bible, and no one is wise who is ignorant of its teachings.
