GOD AND THE SINNER 01-21-19

Good morning everyone. Oh give thanks unto the Lord for he is good yes he is good and worthy of the praise. My hope is that every one of us takes the time today to just bask in the glory of God and take in the history of the moment and this has nothing to do with politics and everything to do with the fulfilling of prophecy.

Today’s Prayer

Dear Heavenly Father, I come before you this morning on behalf of my brothers and sisters in Christ to ask that you help us not to fall into the habit of blithely committing a sin and at the same time thinking that I’ll come to You later for forgiveness. Remind us that sin is not so much an act against Your laws as it is the wrecking of my personal relationship with You. Your heart is grieved, so let ours be too, until we truly repent and turn our lives around. Help us, Lord. In Jesus’ holy name we pray. Amen.

Let’s eat.

God and the Sinner
(His Attitude in Five Respects regarding Salvation)

Permitted – Whosoever will, let him take

Rev. 22:17-20

The Spirit and the bride say, “Come.” Let anyone who hears this say, “Come.” Let anyone who is thirsty come. Let anyone who desires drink freely from the water of life. 18 And I solemnly declare to everyone who hears the words of prophecy written in this book: If anyone adds anything to what is written here, God will add to that person the plagues described in this book. And if anyone removes any of the words from this book of prophecy, God will remove that person’s share in the tree of life and in the holy city that are described in this book.

Invited – Come, for all things are ready

Luke 14:16-24

Jesus replied with this story: “A man prepared a great feast and sent out many invitations. When the banquet was ready, he sent his servant to tell the guests, ‘Come, the banquet is ready.’ But they all began making excuses. One said, ‘I have just bought a field and must inspect it. Please excuse me.’ Another said, ‘I have just bought five pairs of oxen, and I want to try them out. Please excuse me.’ Another said, ‘I now have a wife, so I can’t come.’ “The servant returned and told his master what they had said. His master was furious and said, ‘Go quickly into the streets and alleys of the town and invite the poor, the crippled, the blind, and the lame.’ After the servant had done this, he reported, ‘There is still room for more.’ So his master said, ‘Go out into the country lanes and behind the hedges and urge anyone you find to come, so that the house will be full. For none of those I first invited will get even the smallest taste of my banquet.’”

Entreated – God did beseech by us

2 Corinthians 2:5-11

I am not overstating it when I say that the man who caused all the trouble hurt all of you more than he hurt me. Most of you opposed him, and that was punishment enough. Now, however, it is time to forgive and comfort him. Otherwise he may be overcome by discouragement. So I urge you now to reaffirm your love for him. I wrote to you as I did to test you and see if you would fully comply with my instructions. When you forgive this man, I forgive him, too. And when I forgive whatever needs to be forgiven, I do so with Christ’s authority for your benefit, so that Satan will not outsmart us. For we are familiar with his evil schemes.

Commanded – His commandment…believe

1 John 3:23-24

And this is his commandment: We must believe in the name of his Son, Jesus Christ, and love one another, just as he commanded us. Those who obey God’s commandments remain in fellowship with him, and he with them. And we know he lives in us because the Spirit he gave us lives in us.

Compelled – Compel them to come in

Luke 14:21-24

“The servant returned and told his master what they had said.

Quote of the Day

A man set on fire is an apostle of his age. And the only one who can kindle the spark of light and fire on the hearth where it has died down is He who has revealed Himself as the God of fire, our Lord Jesus Christ. ‘Our God is a consuming fire’…Tell me, is your ministry a burning and shining light, or a smoking wick, slowly dying out to ashes?…It is a strange custom that we should supply a minister with a glass of water; if only we could supply him with a bonfire in the pulpit, a spiritual bonfire. We need the dynamic of a flaming ministry that will set the Church on fire.
