Good morning and praise God for the wonders of life He bestows on us. I was thinking about all the things that are going on in our country and the words “God Sets Guidelines for Government” hit my spirit. The meal today is a result of my pondering and studying the word of God.
Today’s Prayer

Dear Lord Jesus, we cry out for peace, but there can be no real peace until You return, because we are caught up in a climaxing “spiritual battle” for men’s souls. You have said that even the “elect” may be deceived. You are asking us to choose between humanistic philosophies, other gods, and Your unadulterated Word, aren’t You? Remind us that You set limits when You defended Your Father’s house against the money-changers, commanding them not to make it into a den of thieves. Forgive us today, and forgive me, for often by my silence I have allowed others to legalize what You have called “immorality.” Oh Lord, give me the courage to defend You as Joshua did, and say: “… as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.“* In Your name I pray, Amen.

God Sets Guidelines for Government
When the godly are in authority, the people rejoice. But when the wicked are in power, they groan.– Proverbs 29:2.
What I’m about to share with you has nothing to do with any particular political party or candidate what so ever. This is part of the “kingdom principle”. With that said I will move forward.
There’s an old proverb, not a Bible proverb, but a wonderful proverb that I heard awhile back that says, “If the gold rusts, what shall the iron do?” And the meaning is: if those in leadership, those at the helm, do not lead right, what is going to happen to the rest of us?
What does the Bible say about national leadership? In Proverbs 29 it is clear that those in leadership should lead by godly principles. The Bible repeatedly warns us that our leaders should be upright—and what the consequences will be if they are not.
Proverbs 14:34 states, “Godliness makes a nation great, but sin is a disgrace to any people.” Daniel confessed to God, “In view of all your faithful mercies, Lord, please turn your furious anger away from your city Jerusalem, your holy mountain. All the neighboring nations mock Jerusalem and your people because of our sins and the sins of our ancestors.” Daniel 9:16
Jesus so wonderfully said, “We are to render to God the things that are God’s.” But He also said, “We are to render to Caesar the things that are Caesar’s.” Our “Caesar” is a government of, by, and for the people. The very genius of our government is that the people participate. It is none other than Jesus, therefore, who teaches us to participate in government. I hope you vote. If you don’t vote, I believe you have disobeyed your Lord. That’s not my opinion but the word of God.
It’s unthinkable that God Almighty would have ordained government and then told His people to stay out of it. Then who would that leave to influence and to lead? I’m just asking; you and God know your personal answer.
