HUNGERING FOR GOD 01-29-17

(CLICK THE TITLE) Good morning and rejoice in the Lord always and again I say rejoice. I had a dream and in the dream I was starving but the people I was with didn’t want to stop what we were doing to eat. I thought about the dream deeper and realized that it kind of mirrored some of our lives. Keep reading for clarification.

Today’s Prayer

Father, I know that I have prayed this prayer many times before, but I sense in my spirit that someone reading this right now needs it repeated; we said that we loved You, but clouds started to gather around. We said we trusted You, then some of us lost our jobs. We said You wanted only good for us, and sickness stalked our families. Oh Lord, some are thinking right now “I try so hard to be a Christian – why me?” Then in our despair we cried out to You for help, and You said, “I thought you’d never ask!” Oh Lord, on behalf of my brothers and sisters everywhere I apologize for the lengths You sometimes have to go to get our attention! Help us to learn not to lean on our own understanding, but rather to turn to You for the answers to our problems. Help us, for often we find that we are unable to help ourselves. In the matchless name of Jesus I pray and give thanks, Amen.

Let’s eat.

Hungering for God

Matthew 5:6

6 God blesses those who hunger and thirst for justice, for they will be satisfied.

The line of scripture above is from the beatitudes that Jesus spoke to His disciples as part of the Sermon on the Mount. When Jesus said that the one who hungers and thirsts for justice will be blessed, He was not talking about someone who had a mere appetite, He was talking about a starving person. God made us in such a way that we couldn’t exist for long periods of time without food. What is a starving person interested in? Are they hungry for the latest football scores or the flower arrangement at a social gathering; or the number of stars in the universe? No; they’re only interested in one thing – food!

In fact, I did some research and discovered that a person can exist about forty days without food, about three days without water, and only eight minutes without air. In the spiritual realm of eternity, man can’t exist one second without Jesus. May God help us narrow our focus to His glory and the saving of souls; that’s what we should all be craving right now.

Quote of the Day

When you face the perils of weariness, carelessness, and confusion, don’t pray for an easier life. Pray instead to be a stronger man or woman of God.
