JESUS OUR LORD 08-09-20

_ 081614 Our hope in Jesus

What a wonderful day this is that we have before us. I have a song in my heart and in my head right now that says it all. The refrain to the song simply says: “I love you Jesus, I worship and adore you, just want to tell you that I love you more than anything.”

Today’s Prayer

Father, I come before you this day standing in the gap for my brothers and sisters in Christ and ask why is it that we are always in a hurry and You are not? Remind us daily that most things that are really worthwhile were not achieved in a day. By study and prayer, help us create the climate for Your miracles. Help us build a day to day relationship with You so that we can recognize Your actions in our lives and give You all the glory. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.

Let’s eat.

Jesus the Lord

Exalted by God as Lord

Acts 2:32-36

God raised Jesus from the dead and we are all witnesses of this. Now he is exalted to the place of highest honor in heaven, at God’s right hand. And the Father, as he had promised, gave him the Holy Spirit to pour out upon us, just as you see and hear today. For David himself never ascended into heaven, yet he said, ‘The Lord said to my Lord, “Sit in the place of honor at my right hand until I humble your enemies, making them a footstool under your feet.”’ “So let everyone in Israel know for certain that God has made this Jesus, whom you crucified, to be both Lord and Messiah!”

Confessed by the Believer

Romans 10:5-9

For Moses writes that the law’s way of making a person right with God requires obedience to all of its commands. But faith’s way of getting right with God says, “Don’t say in your heart, ‘Who will go up to heaven’ (to bring Christ down to earth). And don’t say, ‘Who will go down to the place of the dead’ (to bring Christ back to life again).” In fact, it says, “The message is very close at hand; it is on your lips and in your heart.” And that message is the very message about faith that we preach: If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.

Owned and Obeyed

Acts 9:1-6

Meanwhile, Saul was uttering threats with every breath and was eager to kill the Lord’s followers. So he went to the high priest. He requested letters addressed to the synagogues in Damascus, asking for their cooperation in the arrest of any followers of the Way he found there. He wanted to bring them—both men and women—back to Jerusalem in chains. As he was approaching Damascus on this mission, a light from heaven suddenly shone down around him. He fell to the ground and heard a voice saying to him, “Saul! Saul! Why are you persecuting me?” “Who are you, lord?” Saul asked. And the voice replied, “I am Jesus, the one you are persecuting! Now get up and go into the city, and you will be told what you must do.”

Colossians 3:16-17

Let the message about Christ, in all its richness, fill your lives. Teach and counsel each other with all the wisdom he gives. Sing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs to God with thankful hearts. And whatever you do or say, do it as a representative of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks through him to God the Father.

Served and Honored

Colossians 3:23-24

Work willingly at whatever you do, as though you were working for the Lord rather than for people. Remember that the Lord will give you an inheritance as your reward, and that the Master you are serving is Christ.

Quote of the Day

The way we behave toward people indicates what we really believe about God.
