Parable of the Lamp 06-03-18

Good morning everyone. Oh give thanks unto the lord for he is good yes He is good. It is no secret that we as believers are to be the light(lamp) to the world. The question you have to ask yourself this morning is; “am I shining the light or have I not paid the price to the power source?” only you and God know the correct answer. We are going to be fed on the subject with a quick but filling meal but first we will pray.

Today’s Prayer

Dear Lord Jesus, help me to see that the climax of Your mission on earth was Your Pentecost experience — the establishing of Your church and the arrival of the Holy Spirit. You came, not just to offer mankind a “heavenly insurance policy,” but also to equip those who would believe for Kingdom-living here and now, so that Your words might continue to be spread all over. You came, not for just one generation, but for all generations to come. You promised to baptize us with Your Holy Spirit, to provide the spiritual gifts, the boldness, the courage, and the power to enable Your disciples, then and now, to keep Your message alive. … You promised all of that if we would but ask,* and I’m asking You now, Lord. Use us, and empower us to be Your witness, so that all we say and do will glorify You! In Your holy name we pray.

Amen.

Let’s eat.

Parable of the Lamp

Luke 8:16-18

No one lights a lamp and then covers it with a bowl or hides it under a bed. A lamp is placed on a stand, where its light can be seen by all who enter the house. For all that is secret will eventually be brought into the open, and everything that is concealed will be brought to light and made known to all. “So pay attention to how you hear. To those who listen to my teaching, more understanding will be given. But for those who are not listening, even what they think they understand will be taken away from them.”

Quote of the Day

We are half-hearted creatures like an ignorant child who wants to go on making mud pies in a slum because he cannot imagine what is meant by the offer of a holiday at the sea. We are far too easily pleased.
