Seven Eternal Things 10-20-19

Good day everyone. This morning I got to thinking about eternity and where we fit in that equation. We all know that God’s number of completion is seven so I made a list of seven eternal things for us to focus on today. Stay blessed.

Today’s Prayer

Father, I come before you this morning on behalf of my brothers and sisters in Christ to ask that you would help us realize that the “good news” is that You are discoverable, that You are all that Jesus Christ declared You to be. Through Christ we can glimpse the very heart of You, and know that You are a God of love, hope and strength; through Him, We know that we can trust You with our world, and our lives. Help us in turn to be trustworthy, to let You know in countless ways each day that You can rely on us. For this we thank You. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

Let’s eat.

Seven Eternal Things

Eternal God

Deut. 33:27

The eternal God is your refuge, and his everlasting arms are under you. He drives out the enemy before you; he cries out, ‘Destroy them!’

The Source of all Eternal Redemption

Heb.9:11-12

So Christ has now become the High Priest over all the good things that have come. He has entered that greater, more perfect Tabernacle in heaven, which was not made by human hands and is not part of this created world. With his own blood—not the blood of goats and calves—he entered the Most Holy Place once for all time and secured our redemption forever.

The Cause of all Eternal Salvation

Heb. 5:7-10

While Jesus was here on earth, he offered prayers and pleadings, with a loud cry and tears, to the one who could rescue him from death. And God heard his prayers because of his deep reverence for God. Even though Jesus was God’s Son, he learned obedience from the things he suffered. In this way, God qualified him as a perfect High Priest, and he became the source of eternal salvation for all those who obey him. And God designated him to be a High Priest in the order of Melchizedek.

God’s Greatest Work; Eternal Life

Rom. 6:23

For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord.

God’s Richest Gift Eternal Inheritance

Heb. 9:13-15

Under the old system, the blood of goats and bulls and the ashes of a young cow could cleanse people’s bodies from ceremonial impurity. Just think how much more the blood of Christ will purify our consciences from sinful deeds so that we can worship the living God. For by the power of the eternal Spirit, Christ offered himself to God as a perfect sacrifice for our sins. That is why he is the one who mediates a new covenant between God and people, so that all who are called can receive the eternal inheritance God has promised them. For Christ died to set them free from the penalty of the sins they had committed under that first covenant.

Saint’s possession Eternal Glory

1 Peter 5:10-11

In his kindness God called you to share in his eternal glory by means of Christ Jesus. So after you have suffered a little while, he will restore, support, and strengthen you, and he will place you on a firm foundation. All power to him forever! Amen.

The Believer’s Hope and the Sinner’s Doom; Eternal Fire

Jude 1:5-7

So I want to remind you, though you already know these things, that Jesus first rescued the nation of Israel from Egypt, but later he destroyed those who did not remain faithful. And I remind you of the angels who did not stay within the limits of authority God gave them but left the place where they belonged. God has kept them securely chained in prisons of darkness, waiting for the great day of judgment. And don’t forget Sodom and Gomorrah and their neighboring towns, which were filled with immorality and every kind of sexual perversion. Those cities were destroyed by fire and serve as a warning of the eternal fire of God’s judgment.

Quote of the Day

For each of us the time is surely coming when we shall have nothing but God. Health and wealth and friends and hiding places will all be swept away, and we shall have only God. To the man of pseudo faith that is a terrifying thought, but to real faith it is one of the most comforting thoughts the heart can entertain.
