SPIRITUAL EMPOWERMENT 02-01-15

_ 020115 PRAYER

This is the day the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad in it. Something in my spirit tells me to make this whole message about prayer, so I’m going to be obedient to the spirit and may everyone be blessed by it.

Today’s Prayer

Father, the Psalmist has said: “It is good for me that I have been afflicted; that I might learn Thy statutes.”* Help us to see that sometimes it takes affliction or severe criticism for You to get our full attention and cooperation. The country is going through hard economic times and to the world it looks bleak but not to those who truly believe that you control everything; the good and the bad. We pray for our President and his wife as they face both their problems and ours. Remind us all that we are not who we say we are, but rather it is our actions that define us; yet if we truly repent and turn our lives around, You are ready to forgive our sins. Can any nation long survive if its leaders can not be trusted? Help us to see that honesty and truth are as necessary in one’s private life as in one’s public dealings. How can we expect our children to be honest and truthful if we ourselves are not? Oh Lord, we pray for our nation, our leaders, and ourselves. Could it be that we all need to take a closer look at Your commandments? In Jesus’ holy name we pray, Amen.

Let’s eat.

Paul’s Prayer for Spiritual Empowering

Ephesians 3:14-21 –

When I think of the wisdom and scope of God’s plan, I fall to my knees and pray to the Father, the Creator of everything in heaven and on earth. I pray that from his glorious, unlimited resources he will give you mighty inner strength through his Holy Spirit. And I pray that Christ will be more and more at home in your hearts as you trust in him. May your roots go down deep into the soil of God’s marvelous love. And may you have the power to understand, as all God’s people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep his love really is. May you experience the love of Christ, though it is so great you will never fully understand it. Then you will be filled with the fullness of life and power that comes from God. Now glory be to God! By his mighty power at work within us, he is able to accomplish infinitely more than we would ever dare to ask or hope. May he be given glory in the church and in Christ Jesus forever and ever through endless ages. Amen.

Quote of the Day

Prevailing or effectual prayer is that prayer which attains the blessing that it seeks.
