The Power Of Prayer 09-20-20

Good day everyone and give thanks unto the Lord for He is good, yes He is good. As you move about today, don’t lose sight of the Great Commission. As believers, that is our first job. Everything else is secondary.

Today’s Prayer

Father, when we repeat the prayer that You gave Your disciples, we pray: “Thy will be done.” Have we concentrated so long on knowing Your will that we have forgotten that it must “be done?” Often it will only be done when a Believer does it; other times, only if I do it! Oh Lord, it is not enough to just know Your will, is it? We must be ready to act on it. I ask on behalf of my brothers and sisters in Christ that You empower us with Your Holy Spirit, that we may carry out Your will more effectively each day. In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.

Let’s eat.

Jonah’s Prayer

Jonah 2

1 Then Jonah prayed to the LORD his God from inside the fish.

2 He said, “I cried out to the LORD in my great trouble, and he answered me. I called to you from the world of the dead, and LORD, you heard me!

3 You threw me into the ocean depths, and I sank down to the heart of the sea. I was buried beneath your wild and stormy waves.

4 Then I said, `O LORD, you have driven me from your presence. How will I ever again see your holy Temple?’

5 “I sank beneath the waves, and death was very near. The waters closed in around me, and seaweed wrapped itself around my head.

6 I sank down to the very roots of the mountains. I was locked out of life and imprisoned in the land of the dead. But you, O LORD my God, have snatched me from the yawning jaws of death!

7 “When I had lost all hope, I turned my thoughts once more to the LORD. And my earnest prayer went out to you in your holy Temple.

8 Those who worship false gods turn their backs on all God’s mercies.

9 But I will offer sacrifices to you with songs of praise, and I will fulfill all my vows. For my salvation comes from the LORD alone.”

10 Then the LORD ordered the fish to spit up Jonah on the beach, and it did.

I ask this question of all who are reading this message; has the Lord given you spiritual directions that you hesitate to follow? If you seem to be stuck in a very uncomfortable place, maybe you need to redirect your thoughts and prayers and get in line with what the Lord gave you as a task.

Quote of the Day

Active faith says, “I believe it! and the promise now I take, knowing well, as I receive it, God, each promise, real will make. So I step into the waters, finding there an open way; Onward press, the land possessing; nothing can my progress stay. Yea, I rise at His commanding, walk straightway, and joyfully. This, my hand, so sadly shrivelled, as I reach, restored shall be. What beyond His faithful promise, would I wish or do I need? Looking not for ‘signs or wonders,’ I’ll no contradiction heed, well I know that ‘God is able,’ and full willing all to do: I believe that every promise, at this moment can come true.” Passive faith but praises in the light, when sun doth shine. Active faith will praise in darkest night– Which faith is thine?
