Things I Know 01-20-15

Rejoice in the Lord Always and again I say rejoice. I was sitting here just thinking about things that are going on around us that can’t really be explained and decided to write about some of the things I know from the bible. Let the scripture bless you today.

Today’s Prayer

Dear Heavenly Father, it’s heavy in my spirit to pray for marriages everywhere. Remind us that in a marriage it is important for each partner to have the same goals in life, and to hold to the same high moral standards. If we are to live with our mates “until death do us part,” then we must help him/her to be more lovable. How? By being more lovable ourselves! Love must be completely unselfish, sacrificial, each wanting to help to develop his/her mate’s uniqueness to the fullest. It involves risk, doesn’t it? But then Your love was offered with a risk too. Help us to remember to make You the center strand of the cord that will hold our marriage together, for our marriage will be at risk without You. It’s in the wonderful name of Jesus that I present this and all things, Amen and Amen.

Let’s eat.

Things I Know

I know whom I have believed

(From Paul to Timothy)

2 Timothy 1:3-12 –

Timothy, I thank God for you—the God I serve with a clear conscience, just as my ancestors did. Night and day I constantly remember you in my prayers. I long to see you again, for I remember your tears as we parted. And I will be filled with joy when we are together again. I remember your genuine faith, for you share the faith that first filled your grandmother Lois and your mother, Eunice. And I know that same faith continues strong in you. This is why I remind you to fan into flames the spiritual gift God gave you when I laid my hands on you. For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline. So never be ashamed to tell others about our Lord. And don’t be ashamed of me, either, even though I’m in prison for him. With the strength God gives you, be ready to suffer with me for the sake of the Good News. For God saved us and called us to live a holy life. He did this, not because we deserved it, but because that was his plan from before the beginning of time—to show us his grace through Christ Jesus. And now he has made all of this plain to us by the appearing of Christ Jesus, our Savior. He broke the power of death and illuminated the way to life and immortality through the Good News. And God chose me to be a preacher, an apostle, and a teacher of this Good News. That is why I am suffering here in prison. But I am not ashamed of it, for I know the one in whom I trust, and I am sure that he is able to guard what I have entrusted to him until the day of his return.

I know that my Redeemer lives

Job 19:25 –

But as for me, I know that my Redeemer lives and he will stand upon the earth at last. And after my body has decayed, yet in my body I will see God!

I know, God is for me

Psalm 56:1-9 –

O God, have mercy on me, for people are hounding me. My foes attack me all day long. I am constantly hounded by those who slander me, and many are boldly attacking me. But when I am afraid, I will put my trust in you. I praise God for what he has promised. I trust in God, so why should I be afraid? What can mere mortals do to me? They are always twisting what I say; they spend their days plotting to harm me. They come together to spy on me—watching my every step, eager to kill me. Don’t let them get away with their wickedness; in your anger, O God, bring them down. You keep track of all my sorrows. You have collected all my tears in your bottle. You have recorded each one in your book. My enemies will retreat when I call to you for help. This I know: God is on my side!

Quote of the Day

“If you plant a bean, then you will harvest only beans, not grapes or strawberries.” This is an old Korean proverb. God gave us new life through Jesus Christ and planted special seeds of forgiveness and love in our hearts. What fruit will we bear in our daily lives?
