THREE OFFICES OF CHRIST 03-26-17

(CLICK THE TITLE) Good morning everyone and rejoice in the Lord always and again I say rejoice. There’s something about the name Jesus that makes the whole world take notice. Don’t you love the sound of that name?

Today’s Prayer

Father, help us not to look at the size and depth of our problems, but rather at the MAGNITUDE of our God. For You, oh Lord, are able. Satan will tempt us to see only our circumstances in order to defeat us; he will mock Your words to enlarge our doubts. But our victory will depend upon our keeping our eyes on Your greatness and Your ability, for You are indeed able! Satan can’t win unless we choose to go over to his side, for the choice is ours. Oh Lord, when we can’t see the way ahead, remind us that our faith is in You, and that You know the way. You will be with us as we take one step at a time, for Your will never takes us beyond where Your amazing grace can sustain us! Help us to trust You completely, for we are often weak and fearful. In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.

Let’s eat.

Three Offices of Christ

The Propitiation

1 John 2:2

He himself is the sacrifice that atones for our sins—and not only our sins but the sins of all the world.

Romans 3:25-26

For God presented Jesus as the sacrifice for sin. People are made right with God when they believe that Jesus sacrificed his life, shedding his blood. This sacrifice shows that God was being fair when he held back and did not punish those who sinned in times past, for he was looking ahead and including them in what he would do in this present time. God did this to demonstrate his righteousness, for he himself is fair and just, and he declares sinners to be right in his sight when they believe in Jesus.

To Provide a Meeting place with God that purged our Sin

Hebrews 1:3

The Son radiates God’s own glory and expresses the very character of God, and he sustains everything by the mighty power of his command. When he had cleansed us from our sins, he sat down in the place of honor at the right hand of the majestic God in heaven.

Hebrews 9:14

Just think how much more the blood of Christ will purify our consciences from sinful deeds so that we can worship the living God. For by the power of the eternal Spirit, Christ offered himself to God as a perfect sacrifice for our sins.

To Prepare for the Presence of God the High Priest

Hebrews 4:14

So then, since we have a great High Priest who has entered heaven, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold firmly to what we believe.

Hebrews 7:25

Therefore he is able, once and forever, to save those who come to God through him. He lives forever to intercede with God on their behalf.

His main job is to represent His People before God

Quote of the Day

It is not you who shape God; it is God that shapes you. If then you are the work of God, await the hand of the Artist who does all things in due season. Offer the Potter your heart, soft and tractable, and keep the form in which the Artist has fashioned you. Let your clay be moist, lest you grow hard and lose the imprint of the Potter’s fingers.
