THE UNBELIEF OF THE PEOPLE 07-05-16

_ 120314 Belief or Disbelief

(CLICK THE TITLE) Good day everyone and praise the Lord for what He is, God all by Himself. He has so blessed us, His children; give Him your best praise today. This meal is a reminder of things that have happened in the past that are still happening today among some “church folks”.

Today’s Prayer

(This is personal. You can also make it yours if it applies)

Dear Lord Jesus, we cry out for peace, but there can be no real peace until You return, because we are caught up in a climaxing “spiritual battle” for souls of people everywhere. You have said that even the “elect” may be deceived. You are asking us to choose between humanistic philosophies, other gods, and Your unadulterated Word, aren’t You? Remind us that You set limits when You defended Your Father’s house against the money-changers, commanding them not to make it into a den of thieves. Forgive us today, and forgive me, for often by my silence I have allowed others to legalize what You have called “immorality.” Oh Lord, give me the courage to defend You as Joshua did, and say: “as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.“* In Your name I pray. Amen.

Let’s eat.

The Unbelief of the People

John 12:37-50

But despite all the miraculous signs he had done, most of the people did not believe in him. This is exactly what Isaiah the prophet had predicted: “Lord, who has believed our message? To whom will the Lord reveal his saving power?” But the people couldn’t believe, for as Isaiah also said, “The Lord has blinded their eyes and hardened their hearts–so their eyes cannot see, and their hearts cannot understand, and they cannot turn to me and let me heal them.” Isaiah was referring to Jesus when he made this prediction, because he was given a vision of the Messiah’s glory. Many people, including some of the Jewish leaders, believed in him. But they wouldn’t admit it to anyone because of their fear that the Pharisees would expel them from the synagogue. For they loved human praise more than the praise of God. Jesus shouted to the crowds, “If you trust me, you are really trusting God who sent me. For when you see me, you are seeing the one who sent me. I have come as a light to shine in this dark world, so that all who put their trust in me will no longer remain in the darkness. If anyone hears me and doesn’t obey me, I am not his judge–for I have come to save the world and not to judge it. But all who reject me and my message will be judged at the day of judgment by the truth I have spoken. I don’t speak on my own authority. The Father who sent me gave me his own instructions as to what I should say. And I know his instructions lead to eternal life; so I say whatever the Father tells me to say!”

Quote of the Day

God does not judge the condition or quality of His church by how good the meetings are on Sunday morning, but by how good the people are on Monday morning. The main calling of our life is more than just knowing the truth – — it is having that truth become our life.
