(CLICK THE TITLE) Good morning and praise God for another day and another chance. The spirit is high today, so we might as well feast on it.
Father, we have felt emotional pain and we have experienced physical pain. We have seen the affects of all kinds of pain in other people’s lives. It is not pretty. We hope and pray that we will always be able to reach out to others, think of them, think of good things, think of You, rather than focus on our own pain. When we are able to reach out and help someone else, our spirit is filled with joy, happiness, and satisfaction. It takes our minds off our own pain and problems, and directs it to a better perspective. Please minister through us to ease the pain of our families, friends, neighbors, coworkers, church leaders, whoever needs a special touch. In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.
Let’s eat.
The Leading of the Spirit
In the Believer’s Life
Romans 8:14
For all who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God.
Galatians 5:18
When you are guided by the Holy Spirit you need no longer force yourself to obey Jewish laws.
In the Lord’s Service
Acts 8:26-31
But as for Philip, an angel of the Lord said to him, “Go over to the road that runs from Jerusalem through the Gaza Desert, arriving around noon.” So he did, and who should be coming down the road but the Treasurer of Ethiopia, a eunuch of great authority under Candace the queen. He had gone to Jerusalem to worship and was now returning in his chariot, reading aloud from the book of the prophet Isaiah. The Holy Spirit said to Philip, “Go over and walk along beside the chariot.” Philip ran over and heard what he was reading and asked, “Do you understand it?” “Of course not!” the man replied. “How can I when there is no one to instruct me?” And he begged Philip to come up into the chariot and sit with him.
Acts 16:1-8
Paul and Silas went first to Derbe and then on to Lystra where they met Timothy, a believer whose mother was a Christian Jewess but his father a Greek. Timothy was well thought of by the brothers in Lystra and Iconium, so Paul asked him to join them on their journey. In deference to the Jews of the area, he circumcised Timothy before they left, for everyone knew that his father was a Greek [and hadn’t permitted this before ]. Then they went from city to city, making known the decision concerning the Gentiles, as decided by the apostles and elders in Jerusalem. So the church grew daily in faith and numbers. Next they traveled through Phrygia and Galatia, because the Holy Spirit had told them not to go into the Turkishprovince of Asia Minor at that time. Then going along the borders of Mysia they headed north for the province of Bithynia, but again the Spirit of Jesussaid no. So instead they went on through Mysia province to the city of Troas.
In the Assembly
1 Corinthians 12:7
The Holy Spirit displays God’s power through each of us as a means of helping the entire church.
1 Corinthians 14:15
Well, then, what shall I do? I will do both. I will pray in unknown tongues and also in ordinary language that everyone understands. I will sing in unknown tongues and also in ordinary language, so that I can understand the praise I am giving;
Quote of the Day
The divine awakening produces in the soul of the perfect a flame of love which is a participate of that living flame which is the Holy Spirit Himself…this is the operation of the Holy Spirit in the soul that is transformed in love, that His interior actions cause it to send out flames…This flame wounds the soul as it is given, but the wound is tender, and, instead of causing death, it increases life; for the soul is holiest that is most wounded by love.
