CONCENTRATE ON THE GOSPEL 04-06-15

_ 040615 THE GOSPEL

Oh give thanks unto the Lord for He is good yes He is good and worthy of our praise. What a wonderful day of worship and fellowship yesterday, which brings me to where I’m at today. It’s all about the gospel.

Today’s Prayer

Father, the question is not how righteous and merciful You are, but rather how righteous and sincere we are. Repenting, both as a nation and as an individual doesn’t mean just saying, “I’m sorry to have ignored Your Word.” It means turning around, looking at our wrong opinions and actions, and seeking to go Your way. Thank You that You are indeed merciful and just, and that You don’t give us what we deserve, but rather what You know we need to bring us back to You. Help us to pray, “Thy will be done,” and to mean it. Help us first to truly commit ourselves to seeking to know Your will, and then give us the courage and strength to live by it daily. Let us be someone else’s gospel. In the matchless name of Jesus we pray, Amen.

Let’s eat.

What the Gospel Ministers

2 Corinthians 3:6-18 –

He has enabled us to be ministers of his new covenant. This is a covenant not of written laws, but of the Spirit. The old written covenant ends in death; but under the new covenant, the Spirit gives life.

The Glory of the New Covenant

The old way, with laws etched in stone, led to death, though it began with such glory that the people of Israel could not bear to look at Moses’ face. For his face shone with the glory of God, even though the brightness was already fading away. Shouldn’t we expect far greater glory under the new way, now that the Holy Spirit is giving life? If the old way, which brings condemnation, was glorious, how much more glorious is the new way, which makes us right with God! In fact, that first glory was not glorious at all compared with the overwhelming glory of the new way. So if the old way, which has been replaced, was glorious, how much more glorious is the new, which remains forever! Since this new way gives us such confidence, we can be very bold. We are not like Moses, who put a veil over his face so the people of Israel would not see the glory, even though it was destined to fade away. But the people’s minds were hardened, and to this day whenever the old covenant is being read, the same veil covers their minds so they cannot understand the truth. And this veil can be removed only by believing in Christ. Yes, even today when they read Moses’ writings, their hearts are covered with that veil, and they do not understand. But whenever someone turns to the Lord, the veil is taken away. For the Lord is the Spirit, and wherever the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. So all of us who have had that veil removed can see and reflect the glory of the Lord. And the Lord—who is the Spirit—makes us more and more like him as we are changed into his glorious image.

Life

John 10:10 –

The thief’s purpose is to steal and kill and destroy. My purpose is to give them a rich and satisfying life.

The Spirit

Ephesians 1:13 –

And now you Gentiles have also heard the truth, the Good News that God saves you. And when you believed in Christ, he identified you as his own[a] by giving you the Holy Spirit, whom he promised long ago.

Righteousness

Romans 1:17 –

This Good News tells us how God makes us right in his sight. This is accomplished from start to finish by faith. As the Scriptures say, “It is through faith that a righteous person has life.”

Transformation to His Image

1 John 3:2 –

Dear friends, we are already God’s children, but he has not yet shown us what we will be like when Christ appears. But we do know that we will be like him, for we will see him as he really is.

Quote of the Day

What is necessary is to continue to love. How does a lamp burn, if it is not by the continuous feeding of little drops of oil? When there is no oil, there is no light and the bridegroom will say: “I do not know you”. Dear friends, what are our drops of oil in our lamps? They are the small things from every day life: the joy, the generosity, the little good things, the humility and the patience. A simple thought for someone else. Our way to be silent, to listen, to forgive, to speak and to act. That are the real drops of oil that make our lamps burn vividly our whole life.
