ONLY ONE 03-06-24

Today’s meal comes from a question that popped into my spirit; whom do you choose? Let the following scripture be the resounding answer.

Today’s Prayer

Father, I come before you today on behalf of my brothers and sisters in Christ everywhere to ask that You would remind us that our prayer-line to You is a two-way one. It is not just for us to call You in a crisis situation, it is also for You to call us! How can we know Your will for us if we are never “at home,” quiet enough, to receive Your calls? Are we so preoccupied with our worldly cares that we don’t hear and recognize Your voice? Do we not take time to be still and to wait upon You, Lord? Remind us that You don’t just call on Sundays, You want to be able to reach us any time and any place, when You might need us, or when You know that we need You. Our lives could be so much richer and fuller, so much more Christian and worthwhile if we talked with You every day! Help us to see this, Lord. It’s our call, isn’t it? In the awesome name of Jesus I pray, Amen.

Let’s eat.

Only One

One God

Mark 12:29

Jesus replied, “The one that says, `Hear, O Israel! The Lord our God is the one and only God.

No Idolatry, One Mediator

1 Timothy 2:5

That God is on one side and all the people on the other side, and Christ Jesus, himself man, is between them to bring them together

No Priest craft, One Savior

Isaiah 45:21

Consult together, argue your case and state your proofs that idol-worship pays! Who but God has said that these things concerning Cyrus would come true? What idol ever told you they would happen? For there is no other God but me–a just God and a Savior–no, not one!

No Mixtures, One Offering

Hebrews 10:12-14

But Christ gave himself to God for our sins as one sacrifice for all time, and then sat down in the place of highest honor at God’s right hand, waiting for his enemies to be laid under his feet. For by that one offering he made forever perfect in the sight of God all those whom he is making holy.

No Sacraments, One Lord

1 Corinthians 8:4

So now, what about it? Should we eat meat that has been sacrificed to idols? Well, we all know that an idol is not really a god, and that there is only one God, and no other.

Ephesians 4:5

One Lord, one faith, one baptism.

Quote of the Day

One of the most wonderful things about knowing God is that there’s always so much more to know, so much more to discover. Just when we least expect it, He intrudes into our neat and tidy notions about who He is and how He works. ~Joni Eareckson Tada~
