Good day everyone. What a wonderful day we have before us. The question now becomes, how will you use it? Are you taking a day off? Think about that last question in the spirit. The word “Proverbs” popped into my head so I thought it would be nice to go there for a morsel.
Today’s Prayer
Father, I have prayed this particular prayer on a number of occasions and it feels right to pray it again today. Please remind us that when we truly commit our lives to You, it means that we accept You as Lord of our lives, that we are willing to stop going our own way and “doing our own thing,” and that we are now ready to commit to seeking Your will for our lives. Give us the strength to keep our resolve. Remind us too that You do indeed answer prayers, not always as we may desire, but according to what we are ready for, or what is best for us. You may answer: “Yes,” “No,” “Wait a while,” or “I have something better in mind!” Oh Lord, help us to realize that we can truly count on You — the question is: “Will You be able to count on us?” Help us, Lord, for we are often weak. In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.
Let’s eat.
The purpose of the Proverbs
Proverbs 1:1-7
These are the proverbs of Solomon, David’s son, king of Israel. The purpose of these proverbs is to teach people wisdom and discipline, and to help them understand wise sayings. Through these proverbs, people will receive instruction in discipline, good conduct, and doing what is right, just, and fair. These proverbs will make the simpleminded clever. They will give knowledge and purpose to young people. Let those who are wise listen to these proverbs and become even wiser. And let those who understand receive guidance by exploring the depth of meaning in these proverbs, parables, wise sayings, and riddles. Fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge. Only fools despise wisdom and discipline.
Quote of the Day
Forgive, forget. Bear with the faults of others as you would have them bear with yours. Be patient and understanding. Life is too short to be vengeful or malicious. ~Phillips Brooks~
