The Way To The Father 07-07-20

Oh give thanks unto the lord for he is good, yes he is good! Today the scripture is purely about the way and the truth. Let it bless your whole being.

Today’s Prayer

Our most gracious heavenly Father, as we acknowledge Your sovereignty today, help us to remember that as Christians we have committed ourselves to living by Your rules, and not by our generational whims or desires. You created us, male and female to procreate, nurture and enjoy our families, that we might continue to be Your people. Through Your Son’s sacrifice, You loved us, You taught us, and You saved us. Jesus taught that we are to seek and follow Your will, that we are to show sensitivity to sinners, but that we are not to condone their sins! Forgive us, Lord, as a nation, as a church, and as individuals for too often condoning what You have called sin.* Give us courage as we try to remain faithful to Your Word. In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.

Jesus, the Way to the Father

John 14:1-14

1 “Don’t be troubled. You trust God, now trust in me.

2 There are many rooms in my Father’s home, and I am going to prepare a place for you. If this were not so, I would tell you plainly.

3 When everything is ready, I will come and get you, so that you will always be with me where I am.

4 And you know where I am going and how to get there.”

5 “No, we don’t know, Lord,” Thomas said. “We haven’t any idea where you are going, so how can we know the way?”

6 Jesus told him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me.

7 If you had known who I am, then you would have known who my Father is. From now on you know him and have seen him!”

8 Philip said, “Lord, show us the Father and we will be satisfied.”

9 Jesus replied, “Philip, don’t you even yet know who I am, even after all the time I have been with you? Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father! So why are you asking to see him?

10 Don’t you believe that I am in the Father and the Father is in me? The words I say are not my own, but my Father who lives in me does his work through me.

11 Just believe that I am in the Father and the Father is in me. Or at least believe because of what you have seen me do.

12 “The truth is, anyone who believes in me will do the same works I have done, and even greater works, because I am going to be with the Father.

13 You can ask for anything in my name, and I will do it, because the work of the Son brings glory to the Father.

14 Yes, ask anything in my name, and I will do it!

Quote of the Day

A church that has passion is a church where discouraged folks cheer up, dishonest folks ‘fess up, sour folks sweeten up, closed folk, open up, gossipers shut up, conflicted folks make up, sleeping folks wake up, lukewarm folk, fire up, dry bones shake up, and pew potatoes stand up! But most of all, Christ the Savior of the entire world is lifted up.
