Blessed Assurance 07-28-19

Good day everyone. As I sit here I’m reminded of conversation I had just this week with individuals whose beliefs aren’t the same as mine. They are good people who are dead if they don’t accept Jesus as the Lord of their lives. I did my job of introducing them to Him. The question they all had was “why should I change my beliefs? Here is what I had for them.

Today’s Prayer

Father, remind us that we who call ourselves “Your people” on Sundays are required to live by Your guidelines seven days a week! Both as Christians and as citizens of this great nation, we need to remember that it was founded on Your moral principles. We each need to be honest and trustworthy in all of our daily dealings. No nation, no society, no marriage, and no family can long survive without honesty and trustworthiness! Open our eyes to see that too many times we give You honor on Sundays and then accept our daily newscaster’s “take” on weekdays as our “gospel.” Quite often we are misled and deceived! Remind us of our grandparents’ truism that “Two wrongs do not make a right!” Help us to demand of our leaders the same integrity that You expect each of us to demand of ourselves, whether as Christians, as citizens, or both. Help us to seek the truth and Your guidance, for fear that we will be deceived. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

Let’s eat.

 Assurance

Certainty, not Doubt, is the Christian’s normal condition

What Believers Are

Living Bible

1 Corinthians 1:18

I know very well how foolish it sounds to those who are lost, when they hear that Jesus died to save them. But we who are saved recognize this message as the very power of God.

Living Bible

1 John 2:12

I am writing these things to all of you, my little children, because your sins have been forgiven in the name of Jesus our Savior.

What Believers Know

Living Bible

1 John 3:14

If we love other Christians it proves that we have been delivered from hell and given eternal life. But a person who doesn’t have love for others is headed for eternal death.

Living Bible

1 John 3:24

Those who do what God says–they are living with God and he with them. We know this is true because the Holy Spirit he has given us tells us so.

Living Bible

1 John 5:11

And what is it that God has said? That he has given us eternal life, and that this life is in his Son.

Living Bible

1 John 5:19

We know that we are children of God and that all the rest of the world around us is under Satan’s power and control.

What Believers Have

Living Bible

Ephesians 1:7

So overflowing is his kindness toward us that he took away all our sins through the blood of his Son, by whom we are saved;

Living Bible

Ephesians 5:1

Follow God’s example in everything you do just as a much loved child imitates his father.

Living Bible

John 3:14

And as Moses in the wilderness lifted up the bronze image of a serpent on a pole, even so I must be lifted up upon a pole,

What Believers Expect

Living Bible

1 John 3:2

Yes, dear friends, we are already God’s children, right now, and we can’t even imagine what it is going to be like later on. But we do know this, that when he comes we will be like him, as a result of seeing him as he really is.

Living Bible

1 Thessalonians 4:16

For the Lord himself will come down from heaven with a mighty shout and with the soul-stirring cry of the archangel and the great trumpet-call of God. And the believers who are dead will be the first to rise to meet the Lord.

Quote of the Day

Souls are not made sweet by taking [ill tempers] out, but by putting something in – a great Love, a new Spirit, the Spirit of Christ. Christ, the Spirit of Christ, interpenetrating ours, sweetens, purifies, transforms all. This can only eradicate what is wrong, renovate and regenerate, and rehabilitate the inner man. Will-power does not change men. Time does not change men. Christ does. Therefore “Let that mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus.”
