CLEANSING 06-06-19

Good day everyone and praise God for another day and another chance to move forward in the journey. Putting God first will cleanse the path greatly. The key word for the day is cleanse.

Today’s Prayer

Father, as we begin the day ahead of us, let us not forget to pray for our nation. More and more we see emphasis being placed on the secular, on the material, and we realize that we are being forced as a nation, and as individuals, to live beyond our means. Let us stop and ask ourselves, “In whom do we believe, and what do we believe?” Help us to ponder these words: “When a man ceases to believe in God, he does not believe in nothing, he believes in anything!”We pray that those in leadership positions will lead this country back to our Christian roots, for fear that they make a god of diversity, and we as a nation desert You, and You desert us! Remind us that freedom has its boundaries, and that these boundaries are determined by whatever we as a nation commit ourselves to!Oh Lord, let us pray each day that we and our leaders will commit ourselves to You. In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.

Let’s eat.

Man’s Natural State

Isaiah 64:6

We are all infected and impure with sin. When we display our righteous deeds, they are nothing but filthy rags. Like autumn leaves, we wither and fall, and our sins sweep us away like the wind.

Psalm 51:5-7

For I was born a sinner—yes, from the moment my mother conceived me. But you desire honesty from the womb, teaching me wisdom even there. Purify me from my sins, and I will be clean; wash me, and I will be whiter than snow.

No Cleansing by Man’s Efforts

Jeremiah 2:22

No amount of soap or lye can make you clean. I still see the stain of your guilt. I, the Sovereign Lord, have spoken!

Job 9:30-31

Even if I were to wash myself with soap and clean my hands with lye, you would plunge me into a muddy ditch, and my own filthy clothing would hate me.

Atonement, the Ground of it

New Living Translation

Leviticus 16:30

On that day offerings of purification will be made for you,[a]and you will be purified in the Lord’s presence from all your sins.

Hebrews 1:3

The Son radiates God’s own glory and expresses the very character of God, and he sustains everything by the mighty power of his command. When he had cleansed us from our sins, he sat down in the place of honor at the right hand of the majestic God in heaven.

Effected once for all

New Living Translation

Hebrews 10:12

But our High Priest offered himself to God as a single sacrifice for sins, good for all time. Then he sat down in the place of honor at God’s right hand.

John 15:3

You have already been pruned and purified by the message I have given you.

The Continuous Efficacy of the Blood

1 John 1:7

But if we are living in the light, as God is in the light, then we have fellowship with each other, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, cleanses us from all sin.

Daily Cleansing by the Word

Ephesians 5:24-26

As the church submits to Christ, so you wives should submit to your husbands in everything. For husbands, this means love your wives, just as Christ loved the church. He gave up his life for her to make her holy and clean, washed by the cleansing of God’s word.

Psalm 119:9

How can a young person stay pure? By obeying your word.

Quote of the Day

Lord, help us to remember that nothing is going to happen to us today that we together can’t handle.
