COVERING LEADERS IN PRAYER 06-08-18

Good morning everyone. It’s day two of General Synod, you know what to do warriors. As I sit here putting together this message, I have a deep compulsion to pray for the churches and the leaders of their flocks as I prepare to be in a gathering of leaders of the Reformed Church in America for the next 5 days. So please join me as I move forward in prayer.

Today’s Prayer

Father, I pray for every church that exists today. I pray that every leader will hear to Your voice and follow the leading of the Holy Spirit. I pray that none will serve out of self-glory but will serve out of reverence and love and a calling from You. I pray that they will be sensitive the the needs of the body of Christ; that they will understand what the ministry needs, and will provide opportunities of service to include all of those who want to use the gifts You have given them in the ministry. God, please provide protection, wisdom, and strength for those who lead, and may they follow Your lead as they “shepherd the flock” You have given them. In the matchless name of Jesus I pray, Amen.

Let’s eat.

A True Christian

I am here this morning to let everyone know what the bible says a true Christian is. No one reading this message will be able to plead ignorance after this lesson. A true Christian:

 Comes to Christ

New Living Translation

Matthew 11:28

Then Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. —

 Believes in Christ

New Living Translation

John 3:16

For God loved the world so much that he gave his only Son so that anyone who believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

 Receives Life from Christ

New Living Translation

John 3:36

And all who trust him–God’s Son–to save them have eternal life; those who don’t believe and obey him shall never see heaven, but the wrath of God remains upon them.”

 Confesses he owns Christ

New Living Translation

Romans 10:9

For if you tell others with your own mouth that Jesus Christ is your Lord, and believe in your own heart that God has raised him from the dead, you will be saved.

 Is in Christ

New Living Translation

Romans 8:1

So there is now no condemnation awaiting those who belong to Christ Jesus.

 Lives for Christ

New Living Translation

Philippians 1:21

For to me, living means opportunities for Christ, and dying–well, that’s better yet!

He will be with Christ

New Living Translation

John 17:24

Father, I want them with me–these you’ve given me–so that they can see my glory. You gave me the glory because you loved me before the world began!

The question today becomes, do any of us fit the mold of a true Christian? GOD knows the answer.

Quote of the Day

He who searches for Divine Reality with all his heart and soul and finds it, becomes aware that, before he began to seek God, God was seeking him, in order to draw him into the joy of fellowship with Him, into the peace of His Presence; even as a child who has strayed, when he is safely back in his mother’s arms, realizes that she had been searching for him, with deep maternal love, before he had begun to think about her.
