As I was laying in bed this morning thinking about putting together this message, the words “come back” dropped into my spirit. I thought about the events of the last few days and realized that my focus was sidetracked a little, so I went to the scriptures to get re-focused. Let the trip I took be a blessing to you.
Today’s Prayer
Dear Heavenly Father, on behalf of my brothers and sisters in Christ I ask that You would help us realize that prayer should not be a device for getting You to use Your resources to grant our desires, but rather a means for us to re-direct our desires to be in accordance with Your will. Remind us that Jesus said: “Whatever you ask the Father in My name He will give you,”* meaning something that receives Your approval, and is made possible because we have accepted Jesus as The Lord of our lives. So let us think over our requests before we pray in order that they may be according to Your will; this may reduce the number of our requests, but it may also increase the number of Your positive answers. Let us take time to study Your Word that we may better understand Your will, and recognize the Holy Spirit’s leading. In the wonderful name of Jesus I pray and give thanks, Amen.
Let’s eat.
Reconciliation
2 Corinthians 5:18-21
And all of this is a gift from God, who brought us back to himself through Christ. And God has given us this task of reconciling people to him. For God was in Christ, reconciling the world to himself, no longer counting people’s sins against them. And he gave us this wonderful message of reconciliation. So we are Christ’s ambassadors; God is making his appeal through us. We speak for Christ when we plead, “Come back to God!” For God made Christ, who never sinned, to be the offering for our sin, so that we could be made right with God through Christ.
It’s Source – God
Job 33:23-24
“But if an angel from heaven appears— a special messenger to intercede for a person and declare that he is upright— he will be gracious and say, ‘Rescue him from the grave, for I have found a ransom for his life.’
It’s Character – Unto Himself
Colossians 1:21
This includes you who were once far away from God. You were his enemies, separated from him by your evil thoughts and actions.
It’s Basis – The Cross
Romans 5:9
And since we have been made right in God’s sight by the blood of Christ, he will certainly save us from God’s condemnation.
It’s Object – Sinners, Enemies
Romans 5:10
For since our friendship with God was restored by the death of his Son while we were still his enemies, we will certainly be saved through the life of his Son.
Quote of the Day
I learned as never before that persistent calling upon the Lord breaks through every stronghold of the devil, for nothing is impossible with God. For Christians in these troubled times, there is simply no other way. ~Jim Cymbala~
