Good day everyone. As I sat here getting ready to put together a meal, my spirit was quickened on the subject of “giving”. This has not really been a problem in my life but the Holy Spirit is urging me to share from scripture a nugget or two on the subject. Just insert your name and town in the places necessary for the word to become personal.
TODAY’S PRAYER
Dear Heavenly Father, on behalf of my brothers and sisters in Christ I ask that you please help us to realize that humility is not belittling oneself, but rather forgetting oneself. Help us to forget ourselves, to cease expecting recognition or thanks, but rather to see that we are serving You. Let our satisfaction be in pleasing You, and let our hearts sing Your praises. In Jesus’ wonderful name I pray, Amen.

GIVING
2 Corinthians 9:1-9
I really don’t need to write to you about this ministry of giving for the believers in Jerusalem. For I know how eager you are to help, and I have been boasting to the churches in Macedonia that you in Greece were ready to send an offering a year ago. In fact, it was your enthusiasm that stirred up many of the Macedonian believers to begin giving. But I am sending these brothers to be sure you really are ready, as I have been telling them, and that your money is all collected. I don’t want to be wrong in my boasting about you. We would be embarrassed—not to mention your own embarrassment—if some Macedonian believers came with me and found that you weren’t ready after all I had told them! So I thought I should send these brothers ahead of me to make sure the gift you promised is ready. But I want it to be a willing gift, not one given grudgingly. Remember this—a farmer who plants only a few seeds will get a small crop. But the one who plants generously will get a generous crop. You must each decide in your heart how much to give. And don’t give reluctantly or in response to pressure. “For God loves a person who gives cheerfully.” And God will generously provide all you need. Then you will always have everything you need and plenty left over to share with others. As the Scriptures say, “They share freely and give generously to the poor. Their good deeds will be remembered forever.”
QUOTE OF THE DAY
Before we look at how we make Jesus Lord, we need to see what it is we mean when we talk about lordship. To make Jesus Lord of our life means to surrender control of every area of our life to Him. We come under His authority. His authority is supreme over our authority. We start taking orders from Him – we do what He tells us to do. That’s what lordship is – Christ reigning as supreme authority over our life. Making Jesus Lord of our life is not something passive. It’s not a state of being, it’s a state of doing. Those whom Jesus recognizes as His own are those who do the will of His Father in heaven.
