Good morning everyone. Today I’m going to share some information from a discussion I had with a group of pastor friends of mine where I asked the question; how is your congregation doing when it comes to winning souls for Christ? Each one could tell of the programs that have been implemented and services they were having but I got no direct answer to my question. As Christians, we have to get back to what our main objective is, saving souls.
TODAY’S PRAYER
Father, if we call ourselves Christians, just what kind of Christians are we? Are we nominal Christians — Christian in name only? Are we lukewarm Christian — not really committed? Are we Sunday Christian only, and on week days giving no one any reason to suspect that we consider ourselves Christians? Do we only turn to You in times of crisis, and get upset if You don’t answer immediately? Would we be surprised if You said, “Where have you been?” In short, have we ever really felt close to You? Could it be because some of us have been too busy with our worldly life to study Your Word, or to spend time with other Christians? Have any of us ever understood Your will and Your promises, all that You want for us? Oh Lord, how can some of us get to know You better? The answer to the question, ‘How can we get to know You better?’ — the same way one gets to know a friend or family member, by spending time together, one on one. If we all would read Your Book, in the Old Testament, we will learn of You as Creator, and Sovereign God, ‘I AM.’ You brought into existence ALL that You have for you to enjoy and use creatively. You set forth rules and discipline for man’s greatest good. You inspired the writers of the Bible to present both Your shepherding love and severe mercy. In the New Testament, You sent Your only beloved Son to be the last ‘sacrificial Lamb’ for the lost sinners of all future generations to find their way back into Your fold. It is open to all who choose to accept Your Son, Jesus Christ, as their Lord and Savior. You have promised forgiveness and eternal life to those who accept Him as the Way, the Truth and the Life.” Thank You Father, for Your answer to our questions. Help us not forget to seek fellowship with You each day, that we may know Your will for our lives and be obedient to Your leading. In Jesus’ name we Pray, Amen.
Let’s eat.
Jesus Calls Matthew
Matthew 9:9-13
As Jesus was walking along, he saw a man named Matthew sitting at his tax collector’s booth. “Follow me and be my disciple,” Jesus said to him. So Matthew got up and followed him. Later, Matthew invited Jesus and his disciples to his home as dinner guests, along with many tax collectors and other disreputable sinners. But when the Pharisees saw this, they asked his disciples, “Why does your teacher eat with such scum?” When Jesus heard this, he said, “Healthy people don’t need a doctor—sick people do.” Then he added, “Now go and learn the meaning of this Scripture: ‘I want you to show mercy, not offer sacrifices.’ For I have come to call not those who think they are righteous, but those who know they are sinners.”
QUOTE OF THE DAY
In response to the criticism “You are going too fast” Booth replied, “If anyone still wants a reply, let him ask the lost souls in Hell whose brothers and sisters are following them there. Let him go and ask the blood-washed throng in Heaven, whose eyes are wide open at last to the value of salvation. Let him anticipate the Judgment Day, and in spirit stand before the Throne and propose, if he dares, the question to God Almighty. I think from Hell, Heaven and the Great White Throne, the answer would come back; “More speed! Go faster!”
