It’s a good day everyone. Oh give thanks unto the Lord for He is good yes He is good. As you read the message today, insert your name everywhere you see the name ’Timothy’. Let the scriptures speak to you right where you are.
TODAY’S PRAYER
Gracious heavenly Father, You have created each of us for Your purposes. You have a plan for our lives. It is up to us to build a relationship with You, to discover what You want for us. Our greatest worth and happiness depend on this. Remind us that we are made in Your image, just as Jesus was when “He emptied Himself,”* and became flesh and blood. His Spirit was His connection to You, just as our spirit becomes when we acknowledge You as God and accept Jesus’ sacrifice for our sins. He had a soul, just as we have — mind, will, and emotions — one’s unique personality. Jesus chose to always seek Your will, and to be obedient to it. We have the same choice, for we can know Your will through the Word and by Jesus’ example, with the Holy Spirit’s guidance. We have a physical, destructible body, just as Jesus had. How we take care of it, and use it, is a test of our commitment to You, for You have called us “to be holy as You are holy,” for our greatest fulfillment, and for Your purposes. Open our eyes to see this, Lord. Walk with us, and help us to desire to share Your love and Your Word, that together we can make this a better world. In the name of Jesus we pray. Amen.
Let’s eat.
Paul’s Final Instructions
1Timothy 6:11-21
But you, Timothy, are a man of God; so run from all these evil things. Pursue righteousness and a godly life, along with faith, love, perseverance, and gentleness. Fight the good fight for the true faith. Hold tightly to the eternal life to which God has called you, which you have confessed so well before many witnesses. And I charge you before God, who gives life to all, and before Christ Jesus, who gave a good testimony before Pontius Pilate, that you obey this command without wavering. Then no one can find fault with you from now until our Lord Jesus Christ comes again. For at just the right time Christ will be revealed from heaven by the blessed and only almighty God, the King of all kings and Lord of all lords. He alone can never die, and he lives in light so brilliant that no human can approach him. No human eye has ever seen him, nor ever will. All honor and power to him forever! Amen.
Teach those who are rich in this world not to be proud and not to trust in their money, which is so unreliable. Their trust should be in God, who richly gives us all we need for our enjoyment. Tell them to use their money to do good. They should be rich in good works and generous to those in need, always being ready to share with others. By doing this they will be storing up their treasure as a good foundation for the future so that they may experience true life. Timothy, guard what God has entrusted to you. Avoid godless, foolish discussions with those who oppose you with their so-called knowledge. Some people have wandered from the faith by following such foolishness. May God’s grace be with you all.
QUOTE OF THE DAY
Our God is often too small because he is too religious. We imagine that he is chiefly interested in religion – in religious buildings (churches and chapels), religious activities (worship and ritual), and religious books (Bibles and prayer books). Of course he is concerned about these things, but only if they are related to the whole of life. According to the Old Testament prophets and the teaching of Jesus, God is very critical of ‘religion,” if by that is meant religious services divorced from real life, loving service and the moral obedience of the heart.
