1 102613 Being aware of God

Good morning everyone. As I was sitting here I had one of those moments when I stopped taking the simple things of life for granted and became aware of every essence of God. I went back in my archives and found a message that I put together 5 years ago that talks about this very subject. I’m as blessed reading it this time as I was when I first wrote it. Be blessed.

TODAY’S PRAYER

Father, we have so many things going on in our lives. Please help us to know which tasks are really important and what special projects or missions we should take on. Open our eyes that we may see what foundation the project is based on and remember the experiences You have demonstrated in our lives that would help us to do the project well, or that would serve as a warning for us to stop and not get involved in a specific project. Help us to examine our motives, skills, qualities, and abilities related to accomplishing the task. And please guide us in every step, that we may choose Your will and receive Your blessings. In the name of JESUS we pray, Amen.

Let’s eat.

BECOMING AWARE OF GOD

…”Surely the Lord is in this place, and I was not aware of it.” ~ Genesis 28:16

In the Bible, the word of God explains how Jacob was forced to flee his family after receiving the blessing of God from his father, Isaac. He ran as a result of his broken relationship with his brother, Esau, who threatened to kill him. He was alone after leaving his family and was sleeping in the wilderness area at Bethel. It is here that Jacob encountered God personally for the very first time. He had a dream in which Heaven was opened up to him. The Lord spoke to him there and gave him a promise to give him the very land on which he was lying.

This encounter with God made him realize that God was in this place, even though he had not been aware of it. God had to remove Jacob from all that was of comfort to him in order to reveal Himself to Jacob. What began as a crisis that forced him to be removed from his family and friends led to an encounter with the living God and a fresh vision of God’s purposes for his life.

How often we go about our daily routine and fail to recognize that God is in the place where we are. God had to bring Jacob to a place of separation from his old life and remove all his worldly possessions. He was alone with God at Bethel; nothing else could distract him from an encounter that would change his life.

God often must do radical things in the life of the servant in whom He has special plans: separation from family, removal of physical and emotional resources, an encounter with God. These are often the hallmarks of ownership by God that build a vision into a life.

Has He done any of the things mentioned is this message to you or have you just given the enemy undo credit? We most times take what God is doing as a means to get our attention as an attack of satan. Measure what is happening in your life by the word. It could be just crazy enough for GOD to get your attention.

QUOTE OF THE DAY

“Have patience with all things, but chiefly have patience with yourself. Do not lose courage in considering your own imperfections but instantly set about remedying them– every day begin the task anew.”
