This is the day the Lord has made and we will rejoice and be glad in it. We are going right to the Word today because it’s in my spirit that there are a few people that really need this particular message, so get ready.

Father, I come before you on behalf of my brothers and sisters in Christ to ask that You to forgive us for sometimes trusting in our own intelligence and doubting Yours. We sometimes seem to have no misgivings about the things that we have reasoned out, but we have trouble trusting and believing in Your almighty power apart from our finite understanding. Oh Lord, help us to accept You as a Sovereign Being, fully knowledgeable and worthy of our complete trust! In the name of Jesus we pray, Amen.

Let’s eat.

You GET to Obey God

Don’t get the idea that the will of God is something you have to do. God’s not going to force His will on you. It is something you get to do. When you learn to obey, you learn the joy that’s available in your Christian life. There’s no such thing as a happy, disobedient Christian. It is a contradiction in terms. Obedience and rejoicing come together. It is a lie from Hell that doing the will of God is painful and makes you miserable. The Bible says, “His commandments are not burdensome”  1 john 5:3.

The reason some of us don’t obey the Lord and fail to understand there’s joy in obedience is that we don’t trust the Lord; we have difficulty taking commands from a stranger we don’t know. Once we get to know the Lord Jesus Christ, we learn that His commands are not grievous or burdensome.

  • How have you experienced joy in being obedient to God?
  • How have you been deceived into believing that following God is burdensome and grievous?

Make a list of ways you feel God calling you to be obedient to Him this year. Pray over this list, asking God to remind you that joy is found in obedience to Him.

Quote of the Day

This fitness of heart and thoughts of a person is like that of the strings of a guitar or violin. When these are tightened and made to harmonize, then by the touch of the plectrum or the bow the most charming music is produced; but if that is not done the touch of the bow only produces discords. And the production of sweet sounds when the strings all harmonize is again dependent on the air, by the force and motion of which sound is carried into the ear. In the same way,to harmonize the thoughts and imaginations of men the presence of the stimulating breath of the Holy Spirit is necessary. When that is present there will be produced heavenly airs and joyous harmonies in men’s hearts, both in this life and in heaven. ~Sadhu Sundar Singh~
