Good morning everyone. As I sit here reading the scripture that I’m about to share with you I started thinking about the requests and commands that Jesus made of those He trusted to carry them out. I wonder if He made the same requests of me, would I follow them without questions. Would I be obedient and follow through? As you read the scripture today please ask yourself the same question and then give the answer to God.
Today’s Prayer
Dear heavenly Father, You have instructed us to not be anxious, worrisome, overly concerned for any thing but instead to bring everything to you in prayer and thanksgiving. If we do this, you have promised us that your peace, which passes all understanding, shall keep our hearts and minds through Jesus. I come to you now for myself and on behalf of my brothers and sisters in Christ, and for those who suffer so much due to anxiety and depression. I pray that you will fill us with your peace; that you will touch our minds and remind us that we don’t need to worry. You are our God and maker. You will handle it for us. Worrying does no good. May we lean into you, talk with you; spend time in your Word and before the throne of grace. May we fellowship with other Christians, those who will encourage us, even more so as the day approaches. Right now, this day, we give you our concerns and ask that you will work out all to our good and your glory. Thank you Father for loving us and carrying our burdens, for providing for our needs. Thank you Father for Jesus Christ our Savior and the hope He has given. For it is in His name I pray, Amen.
Let’s eat.
Jesus Sends Out the Twelve Disciples
Mark 6:7-13
Then Jesus went from village to village, teaching the people. And he called his twelve disciples together and began sending them out two by two, giving them authority to cast out evil spirits. He told them to take nothing for their journey except a walking stick—no food, no traveler’s bag, no money. He allowed them to wear sandals but not to take a change of clothes. “Wherever you go,” he said, “stay in the same house until you leave town. But if any place refuses to welcome you or listen to you, shake its dust from your feet as you leave to show that you have abandoned those people to their fate.” So the disciples went out, telling everyone they met to repent of their sins and turn to God. And they cast out many demons and healed many sick people, anointing them with olive oil.
Quote of the Day
Give me, O Lord, a steadfast heart which no unworthy thought can drag downwards; an unconquered heart which no tribulation can wear out; an upright heart which no unworthy purpose may tempt aside. Bestow upon me also, O Lord my God, understanding to know you, diligence to seek you, wisdom to find you, and a faithfulness that may finally embrace you; through Jesus Christ, our Lord.
