Jesus Is The Rock 12-23-19

Good morning everyone. Rejoice in the Lord always and again I say rejoice. All of the scripture today is pointed at the Rock of our salvation. Let it bless you.

Today’s Prayer

Dear Heavenly Father, let us join in the chorus, “Oh come, Oh come, Emmanuel” and really mean it. Let us sing, “Prepare Ye the Way of the Lord,” and at the same time prepare our hearts for You. Let us seek Your forgiveness, as we also forgive others. Let “Joy to the World” be our song throughout this Advent Season that others may know that we are Christians by our love. In the wonderful name of Jesus we pray, Amen.

Let’s eat.

Jesus Christ, the Rock

Smitten to give life

Psalm 78:11-20

They forgot what he had done—the great wonders he had shown them, the miracles he did for their ancestors on the plain of Zoan in the land of Egypt. For he divided the sea and led them through, making the water stand up like walls! In the daytime he led them by a cloud, and all night by a pillar of fire. He split open the rocks in the wilderness to give them water, as from a gushing spring. He made streams pour from the rock, making the waters flow down like a river! Yet they kept on sinning against him, rebelling against the Most High in the desert. They stubbornly tested God in their hearts, demanding the foods they craved. They even spoke against God himself, saying, “God can’t give us food in the wilderness. Yes, he can strike a rock so water gushes out, but he can’t give his people bread and meat.”

1 Corinthians 10:3-4

All of them ate the same spiritual food, and all of them drank the same spiritual water. For they drank from the spiritual rock that traveled with them, and that rock was Christ.

Cleft to give Shelter

Exodus 33:22

As my glorious presence passes by, I will hide you in the crevice of the rock and cover you with my hand until I have passed by.

Song of Solomon 2:14

My dove is hiding behind the rocks, behind an outcrop on the cliff. Let me see your face; let me hear your voice. For your voice is pleasant, and your face is lovely.

Raised; to give Shadow

Isaiah 32:2

Each one will be like a shelter from the wind and a refuge from the storm, like streams of water in the desert and the shadow of a great rock in a parched land.

2 Samuel 22:3

My God is my rock, in whom I find protection. He is my shield, the power that saves me, and my place of safety. He is my refuge, my savior, the one who saves me from violence.

Exalted to give Glory

2 Samuel 22:47

“The Lord lives! Praise to my Rock! May God, the Rock of my salvation, be exalted!

Exodus 33:21

The Lord continued, “Look, stand near me on this rock.

Quote of the Day

We are at this moment as close to God as we really choose to be. True, there are times when we would like to know a deeper intimacy, but when it comes to the point, we are not prepared to pay the price involved.
