SPIRITUAL WINGS 04-03-22

_ 040314 Wings

As I laid in bed praying and listening to the still small voice, the word “WINGS” dropped in my spirit so I went to scripture to see what it had to say on the subject and I was not disappointed. Let it bless you.

Today’s Prayer

Dear Lord, on behalf of my brothers and sisters in Christ I come before you with requests. As Resurrection day approaches, let us take time to examine our hearts. Your Word says that we are to grow in holiness, that we must “be holy as You are holy” – this is not an option, but a requirement. Our Easter should not be just lilies and bunnies, or even just hymns and cantatas — a once-a-year commemoration. Rather, Easter should follow a time of personal assessment – have we grown this past year, in building a deeper relationship with You, reading Your Word, and seeking to know Your will for our lives? Or have we forgotten the commitment that we made, putting our Christianity “on hold,” believing that we are “good enough” to suit ourselves? Remind us that Jesus became the sacrificial Lamb for us that we might be freed from the bondage of sin and have eternal life. Remind us too, that we are to tell others about You. Help us to strive to “be holy as You are holy.” In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

Let’s eat.

Wings

Wings of Salvation

Matthew 23:37-39 –

“O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, the city that kills the prophets and stones God’s messengers! How often I have wanted to gather your children together as a hen protects her chicks beneath her wings, but you wouldn’t let me. And now, look, your house is abandoned and desolate. For I tell you this, you will never see me again until you say, ‘Blessings on the one who comes in the name of the Lord!’”

Cover the Exposed; Wings of Shelter

Ruth 2:1-12 –

Now there was a wealthy and influential man in Bethlehem named Boaz, who was a relative of Naomi’s husband, Elimelech. One day Ruth the Moabite said to Naomi, “Let me go out into the harvest fields to pick up the stalks of grain left behind by anyone who is kind enough to let me do it.”  Naomi replied, “All right, my daughter, go ahead.” So Ruth went out to gather grain behind the harvesters. And as it happened, she found herself working in a field that belonged to Boaz, the relative of her father-in-law, Elimelech. While she was there, Boaz arrived from Bethlehem and greeted the harvesters. “The Lord be with you!” he said. “The Lord bless you!” the harvesters replied. Then Boaz asked his foreman, “Who is that young woman over there? Who does she belong to?” And the foreman replied, “She is the young woman from Moab who came back with Naomi. She asked me this morning if she could gather grain behind the harvesters. She has been hard at work ever since, except for a few minutes’ rest in the shelter.” Boaz went over and said to Ruth, “Listen, my daughter. Stay right here with us when you gather grain; don’t go to any other fields. Stay right behind the young women working in my field. See which part of the field they are harvesting, and then follow them. I have warned the young men not to treat you roughly. And when you are thirsty, help yourself to the water they have drawn from the well.” Ruth fell at his feet and thanked him warmly. “What have I done to deserve such kindness?” she asked. “I am only a foreigner.” “Yes, I know,” Boaz replied. “But I also know about everything you have done for your mother-in-law since the death of your husband. I have heard how you left your father and mother and your own land to live here among complete strangers. May the Lord, the God of Israel, under whose wings you have come to take refuge, reward you fully for what you have done.”

To the Trusting; Soul Wings of Strength

Deuteronomy 32:9-11 –

“For the people of Israel belong to the Lord; Jacob is his special possession. He found them in a desert land, in an empty, howling wasteland. He surrounded them and watched over them; he guarded them as he would guard his own eyes. Like an eagle that rouses her chicks and hovers over her young, so he spread his wings to take them up and carried them safely on his pinions.

Bear the Weak; Wings of Service

Isaiah 40:31 –

But those who trust in the Lord will find new strength. They will soar high on wings like eagles. They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not faint.

Quote of the Day

Do little things as though they were great, because of the majesty of Jesus Christ who does them in us, and who lives our life and do the greatest things as though they were little and easy, because of His omnipotence. ~Blaise Pascal~
